Soy milk mixed with hojicha, then lightly sweetened. This iced hojicha latte is simple, delicious, and perfect for warm summer days.
Hi! This is Andrea from Cooking with a Wallflower, and I’m back this month on Ask Anna to share with you another new recipe. This time it’s this iced hojicha latte.
It’s been such a busy month for me. With a wedding to plan, birthdays to celebrate, and baby showers to attend, I feel my weekends have been packed to the brim with events. I honestly can’t wait until things slow down a little bit so I can sit around and do absolutely nothing. How have you been this past month?
It’s been hot lately in the Bay Area, and I’ve been wanting to share something new with you.
Have you ever had hojicha latte? It’s one of my favorite drinks of the moment.
If you’ve had the popular matcha latte, then you’ll definitely enjoy this. Both are types of green tea. Matcha powder is made of finely ground green tea. Hojicha powder is made of finely ground roasted green tea. While both taste amazing in lattes, hojicha does have a deeper caramelized flavor to it.
Whichever you decide is your go to summer drink, you can’t choose wrong. I love that these lattes are so simple to make with ingredients that you’ll already have on hand. You can easily make one for yourself in less than 5 minutes.
To make this hojicha latte, you’ll need hojicha powder, brown sugar, your favorite milk of choice, and crushed ice.
In a small jar, add the hojicha powder, brown sugar, and a little bit of the vanilla almond milk or soy milk. Whisk until the hojicha powder and sugar have dissolved into a paste and appears smooth. If there are clumps, the powder will later float to the top. Fill the rest of the jar with milk and stir to incorporate the hojicha paste. Top with crushed ice.
Serve the iced hojicha latte immediately cold.
