Printable Back to School Organizer Kit

Hi everyone!  I’m Krista and I blog over at While He Was Napping.  I’m super excited to be contributing to Ask Anna for the next year!  This month, we’re pretty focused on Back to School around my house.  Actually, more accurately Starting School. My oldest, Big J, just turned five last week and starts Kindergarten the middle of this month.  My little guy is pretty excited to start school, but his momma is a little apprehensive (and maybe a tiny bit emotional, too).

Life with three little boys and a busy husband can be pretty chaotic, so to try and get a handle on the crazy that’s about to come into our already-crazy lives, I have put together a printable Back to School organizer kit.  I think I’m chronically disorganized, but I keep trying, hopefully, this will help out!

I made this kit to fit the mini binders that you can find at your local office supply store, on Amazon and pretty much anywhere selling school supplies – even Kmart.  Amazon has them for about $5 as an add-on item or $7 with Prime shipping, if you have that.  You can also get page protectors to fit this size, which run around $5 for 25.

In addition, you can find filler paper this size to keep any notes you take together all in one place with your calendar.  This size fits well in a purse or diaper bag and is easy to grab and go, while not taking up a lot of space on the counter or in your drawers at home.  You can print it right at home on your home printer and two pages print on a single 8.5 x 11″ page, saving paper and ink, yippee!  Simply cut them in half and they will fit perfectly in your mini binder.

Included in this sneak peek kit are calendars for the 2014-2015 school year, a contacts list page that can be printed as many times as you need and a back to school essentials shopping list.  I’m sure we’ll get a specific list from Big J’s teacher, as you’ll get from your kiddo’s teacher, but here’s the basics to get started with.

While it’s nice to have people’s names and numbers in my phone, I am also old-school and like the pen and paper variety too. Overkill?  Probably.  Download the free kit HERE.  (Side note: there are no watermarks on the pages, they are just in the photos.)

This set of printables is completely usable as it is, but if you want more you can find an expanded version that includes chore charts, routine trackers, an assignment tracker, a school note template, photo prop pages for grades k-12, an All About Me collage page you can personalize for your kid(s) and use year after year if you want, a lunch planner, tips on packing lunches, a weekly schedule page and more in my Etsy shop.

Another tip: If you use the page protectors, you can use dry or wet erase markers and write on the page protector itself.  This makes edits easy.  Back to School night is actually on the 15th instead of the 12th?  No big deal, just erase it and write in in the correct spot.  Pencils are also good for easy edits… but I’m a pen kind of girl.  I think it’s all the pretty colors they come in. Because, really, who can resist a package of pretty colored pens?!  Am I right?
