If you’ve read any of my posts, you’re already aware that I love parties and gifts! In my last post I shared ways to incorporate baby gifts into the decorations. In this post I’m sharing 3 money gift ideas, which are more fun than the traditional way of putting it in cards!
We have a fairly large extended family, so when it comes to birthdays, there’s always several in a month. We make it easy on all of us and celebrate everyone in the month on the same day! In April we had three birthdays. They’re all at the age that money seems to be the best gift, but when you give it in a card you barely see them even open it. So, here’s what I came up with…
The flowers with money leave, above, were for my daughter. She had a fun beach themed party and the “towels” I put on her cake matched the fabric on the vases. I think I have an extra vase in each cabinet, so I used vases I already had, but I’ve seen them sold lot of places and they are very inexpensive! I’m a scrapbooker as well, so I had all kinds of fabric and paper flowers. After folding the money like a fan, I used bakers twine to tie a bow in the middle. Easy peasy right?!?
The next one I made was for my nephew. Clearly not flowers for a boy, although I guess you could, but this particular young man would think I’d lost my marbles! His favorite candy is Snickers so I took cardboard, cut it in a square, rolled it up so that it had a hollow center and stuck it in the middle of a large jar. Next I poured candy around it. then I stuffed money inside the hollow “tube”. Next I placed the letters of his initials on top of the jar. If this were for a girl you could add ribbon and frills to make it cute and girly!
The last money gift I made was for my niece. This one was one of my favorites. She’s into vintage right now, so I tried to keep it along those lines. You should see the cute cheesecake I did with it! {Maybe next month!} I wanted it to be chic, so I rolled the money instead of fanning it and then for the white stems I used cake pop sticks! I placed them all in a very classic style vase to make it cute, simple and elegant.
I know how much I love making and giving these gifts, but it’s very rewarding when they are truly appreciated by those receiving them. The girls still have the flowers in their rooms, money attached!
I hope this gives you some ideas for your next birthday, baby shower or gift giving occasion!
Enjoy!
