Spring season is upon us and that usually means it’s busting with new life!! I would have loved to have had 10 kids {or maybe 3}, but as God would have it, we were blessed with 1 little angel {depending on the day!}!
Babies showers are THE BEST! I absolutely adore babies! The sounds they make, their little breath, soft skin and yes, smell {as long as it’s not burp up or a bad diaper!}. And let’s face it, this is a happy time for everyone! A new little bundle will be here soon and that means a baby shower is in order! There are so many theme’s and the party possibilities are endless! Just my kind of party!!
I have to admit, when it comes to girls there’s no limit to the color scheme! Think about it, girls can rock just about any color. Boys, on the other had, have a smaller color wheel to work with! Therefore, I was grateful that my girlfriend chose a brown ‘n blue theme for her baby boy shower! Simple enough!
Now, there’s a traditional way to give gifts… buy, wrap and give to open, right? The other way is to tuck them here and there throughout the party! That’s my favorite way! The first “gift” was right when you came through the door and saw the clothes line of cute little outfits. Those were all for her to take!
Second, the table where guests, for lack of better words, “checked in”, I had these little boxes and pens.
These were plain little brown card board boxes until I painted them white, used ribbon, brads and scrapbook paper to dress them up. They then became adorable little “wish boxes” and decorations for the baby room. I made note cards to coordinate and each guest wrote a a wish for the Mom-to-be, the baby or both! They’re fun notes to read at the time and to look back on! At the time not all may make sense, but when looking back you realize exactly why they wrote it!!
The third idea is using baby blankets for table cloths. There’s so many stinkin’ cute blankets out there! I literally got 24 when my daughter was born and I LOVED every one of them!!
The little square glass carnation holder will be converted into a night light by placing a string of “christmas lights” in it. I’ve seen those little holders several places, but I always get mine at Ben Franklin. Plus, now days you can get strands of lights in any color and almost any length!
Now, the cake topper is totally obvious….tiny little shoes! Not that little ones truly wear them, but there’s nothing much cuter than baby shoes! I saw a teeny tiny pair of toms the other day and seriously squeeled out loud!
So, if you’re in Washington and you’re having a shower, I’d be more than happy to take over help!
I’m counting down the days for full blown Spring, but I’m really looking forwards to some Summer sunshine!
Enjoy!
