If you have kids, then you know how their stuff can begin to take over the house. My daughter loves to color, play with stickers, work with Play Dough, etc., as I’m sure your kids do too! As you purchase craft items it’s important to have a designated place for them to go, otherwise they can get really messy, really quickly. The good news is that craft organization doesn’t have to be expensive, in fact most of the items I use for organizing Malea’s craft stuff is from the Dollar Tree and the Target Dollar bins.
When organizing your kids’ craft items make sure that they are at an easy-to-reach height for your kids. Since Malea is only 4, I have all of her stuff very low to the ground so she can go get it without me having to get it down for her. I love it when I walk by my office and see her on the floor surrounded by stickers and coloring books.
All of her coloring books are stored in her vintage desk that I made over for her last year.
All of her coloring crayons, markers and dry erase pens are stored along side some of my craft items.
The yellow bins for the crayons and markers were purchased from the Dollar bins at Target. I bought the green dish, that her dry erase pens are stored in, for my Mad Men Party but I liked it so much that after the party I wanted to use it in my office somehow.
I also store a lot of things in the closet of my office, which is where Malea can find her paints and Play Dough. I bought shoe bins from the Dollar Tree to organize all of these items.
I also wanted to share a few other great ideas I found online, for how to organize kids’ crafts. This mom used on old TV stand to organize them in her home, and I love it because you can close the doors and not see all the stuff when the kids are done playing! Genius! She also used magazine boxes to organize her kids’ coloring books which is a great idea, if you don’t have a desk for them. These ones from IKEA are great.
I also love this bookshelf turned craft station. I think the clear plastic containers, holding all the pens, crayons, etc. look super organized and I love that they all have lids. This mom also used Magazine boxes to organize the coloring books, binders, etc.
Using pegboard to organize a craft station can be a fun way to personalize it. You can also change it around or add pegs as the kids get older and want different craft tools.
And one last picture. These matching blue storage boxes are perfect for storing all of your kids’ craft items and they are from the Dollar Tree! I love that this mom bought smaller bis for the markers, crayons, etc. and then matching larger bins for coloring books and notebooks.
These are just a handful of ideas for craft organization! I would love to hear your creative ideas, and how you organize kids’ crafts in your house.

Wow, how lovely looking. If only it could stay that way for more than 3 minutes, right?

I am taking a break from organizing my daughter’s craft area right now! It’s amazing how quickly it can get completely trashed, which means that instead of having a nice place to work her stuff is spread all over the floor! I love Dollar Tree and the Target $1 section for boxes and bins, I have some left over from a recent kitchen organization that are definitely going into the craft corner. Yours looks great, and thanks for all the tips!
Cheers!

I love it! Where did you find that cabinet that everything is stored in?
Anna says
It’s from IKEA. I got it in the AS IS room, the normal ones come with 2 more drawers for the top.

Do you know where I can purchase the clear plastic containers shown on the bookshelves?
Anna says
I’m not sure where to purchase the cylinders (I’d try Amazon.com or the container store) but the rest of the containers can be found at Target, Walmart, IKEA, any of those type of stores. 🙂 I got the the clear plastic boxes for my play dough at the Dollar Tree.
