Limeade with fresh smashed cherries topped with club soda and crushed ice. This sparkling cherry limeade is simple and refreshing, perfect for a warm summer day.
Hi! This is Andrea from Cooking with a Wallflower, and this month I’m back on Ask Anna with a brand new recipe perfect for warm summer days.
It’s already mid-June! How is it possible that almost half the year has gone by?
With June here, summer is officially just around the corner. And as summer quickly approaches, we’re of course expecting more warm days ahead. I am constantly looking for ways to stay cool in the summer. Most days, San Francisco is cool since we’re by the water, but we also get heat waves. And on those days, I like to have ways to keep myself cool, and this sparkling cherry limeade is perfect for that.
If you’re looking for easy mocktail ideas for summer gatherings or backyard BBQs or to take on a picnic at the park, this drink is super simple to put together.
You get the sweetness of the cherries, the tartness of the lime juice, the fizziness of the sparkling club soda. Finish off the drink with crushed ice and fresh mint leaves as garnish, and you have the perfect drink for warm summer days. Hurry and make this limeade while it’s still cherry season! Cherry season is so short lived you’ll want to catch it while it lasts.
To make this mocktail, add sugar and lime juice to the bottom of a small glass. Add cherries with the pits removed to the glass. Now use a muddler to smash the cherries for a few minutes. The more you smash the cherries, the more flavorful the drink will be.
Add crushed ice. Top the glass with club soda. Top with crushed ice and fresh mint leaves.
Serve the sparkling cherry limeade immediately cold. This recipe can easily be duplicated for bigger batches.
Enjoy!
