How to Organize a Suitcase and take the Stress out of Traveling

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always loved to travel. When I met my husband and he wanted to live in the town I grew up in, so I told him I’d only live there if we could travel a lot because I didn’t want to get stuck in the same place my whole life, and never see the world. He has held up on his end of the bargain and in our 11+ years of marriage we have visited 6 states and 6 countries (some multiple times). 🙂

Because I love to travel so much, and I’m an organizing freak, I’m always looking for the best way to pack, and keep our suitcase organized. When I discovered the EzPacking travel organizers I was beyond excited and couldn’t wait to pack for our next trip!

Traveling tips : how to organize, and maximize, the space in your suitcase | Ask Anna

The EzPacking organizers allow you to keep your bags organized, and they help you maximize space with individual bags for all your items.

My husband and I usually travel together so when we pack our suitcase we’re normally fighting over the space. The EzPacking organizers are so handy because all of our items are contained in the bags, which allows each of us to have the same amount of space.

One of my favorite items, included in the Complete Bundle, are these packing boards. I had never used one before but I loved them because they made folding my husband’s shirts, and a few of my things, SO easy!

My husband loves them too because now he won’t have to spend so much time ironing his clothes in the hotel room.  I love a perfectly folded shirt so I think I could get addicted to folding shirts with the packing boards. When we’re not traveling I might have to steal one and put it in my laundry room. 😉

I also love the shoe bags. I’m a bit of a germaphobe when it comes to shoes, I never allow my shoes to touch my clothes, because the thought of it makes my stomach churn (so many germs!).

The shoe bags are great because I can place my shoes in them, and put them in our suitcase, instead of having to pack a whole extra bag, just for shoes (which I have totally done).  They even fit my boots, amazing!

The Complete Bundle also includes a laundry bag. This is a handy item because it keeps your dirty clothes separated from your clean clothes, and when you get home you can take the bag and empty it right into the washing machine, or your laundry basket. On our last vacation, even my husband made a comment about how convenient it was to have the laundry bag.

How many times have you been on your way home from a vacation and your suitcase is over the weight limit, because of all the fun things you bought? This JUST happened to us last month on our way back from Mexico. There we were, at the check-in counter, rearranging our bags, stuffing things in our carry-ons, trying to get the weight down (so embarrassing!).

It’s this reason that the large duffle bag, is also one of my favorites! I can’t tell you how often I could have used an extra bag to put some things in! This duffle bag is so handy and when you don’t need it, it folds up into a little square that you can tuck away in your suitcase. Genius.

How to organize your suitcase for you and your family | Ask Anna

I had so much fun packing for our last trip, using the organizing bags. I love having individual colors for both my husband and I, so without having to take everything out, we know which bags are ours, and I especially love how much stuff I was able to pack into our suitcase, and still have it look so organized!

All of the EzPacking products are sold individually, or you can purchase them in the complete bundle (shown in this post), or the starter set. If you’re traveling with someone, or just like to pack a big suitcase, the complete bundle is the way to go, and it’s priced at a discount so it’s a great deal!

If you’re someone that doesn’t like packing, the EzPacking travel organizers will change that because they make it so simple. Or if you’re like me, and you enjoy packing, they will make it even that much more fun. 🙂

They also make great gifts for your friends and family that love to travel. The best thing is, that unlike other packing cubes, EzPacking can be used as a closet and home organization tool while not traveling (versus just sitting in a suitcase until the next trip). Use the code ASKANNA and receive a 10% discount off your entire purchase!

I love these! And that packing board – years ago I worked at Talbot’s and we used those to keep the sweaters neat – I’d forgotten how handy they can be. Thanks for sharing about this company! 🙂 I hope I win a set.

I’ll add myself to the crowd of people hoping to get a set so I can travel (organized) with a plan, all my things, husband’s things and kids’ things all mixed in the a suitcase without losing my cool. I’m a habitual over-packer, so I’m just itching to pack something the right way – finally!

Oh my gosh, this post is so timely! I’m going on a 2+ week trip in January and I’m already stressing about packing. Baggage weight restrictions are so low anymore! I have some of the fabric mesh cubes from years ago. But I love the idea that they are plastic and hold their shape better! I’m definitely interested in their entire line. I’m eyeing the complete bundle value pack.

These look like they take up a lot of room & don’t allow you to get as much in – any thoughts about that, Anna? Thanks!

  15. Minta Caine says

    December 8, 2015 at 5:47 am

I forgot to add – but if they help you get more in in a better way, then I’m all for them – I’d really love to try them out. A very interesting concept. Thanks!

    • EzPacking says

      December 18, 2015 at 1:22 pm

Hi Minta! The cubes actually help maximize space in a suitcase. You can easily squeeze all the air out of clothes and fit a lot into each cube. Make sure to check out the videos on our Youtube channel (https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCJ1HPf-dbHcHTYwdBn725A) – you can see how much fits in each cube. Let us know if you have any questions.

  38. Roxanne Loughlin says

    December 14, 2015 at 7:33 am

I’ve been using this method for years! I use the little vinyl pouches that come with sheets, pillowcases, etc. I can get so much into my carryon, and it you have to open your luggage at the airport, nothing falls out in a big heap! For shoes, and dirties, I use plastic bags, and always carry a fold-up tote. These little organizers are so much cuter, and siz-efficient.
