Fresh cherries muddled in sweet and tart lemonade. This seasonal cherry lemonade is delicious and perfect for the warm summer.
Hi! It’s Andrea from Cooking with a Wallflower. This month I’m back with a refreshing recipe that I hope you’ll love as much as I do.
It’s June! Which means summer is finally here. Woohoo!
Do you have any exciting plans this summer? Will you be going on vacation to some exotic country? Or will you be exploring your city like a tourist? Maybe take a local food tour and tastings? My family and I are planning a two day trip to wine country at the end of July, nothing too big since our schedules don’t quite sync well. But I’m super excited. None of us has ever been so it’ll be fun to explore.
With summer comes those long days where the sun sets at a later hour. The weather is warm with the occasional breeze. Or it could also be unbearably hot with only the shadows of trees providing any relief.
What better way to celebrate the arrival of summer and to cool off than with a refreshing drink?
I love lemonade, the contrasting taste of sweet and tart. I’ve made so many versions, even during the winter. But now, when it’s warm, it’s the best time to make yourself a glass of these.
Cherry season has started and it doesn’t ever stay for long. I thought it would be fun to add cherries to this classic drink.
Cut cherries in half and remove the pits. Add cherries to the bottom of your glass, and smash the cherries to release the juice. Pour in water, lemon juice, and a little bit of sugar. Stir to mix the ingredients until they are evenly incorporated. Top the lemonade with crushed ice and garnish with mint leaves.
Serve the cherry lemonade cold. Hope you’ll enjoy this drink as much as I do! Until next time!
- 5-6 cherries, sliced in half and pits removed
- 1 cup water
- 1½ tablespoons lemon juice
- ½ - 1 teaspoon sugar, to taste
- 4-5 mint leaves for garnish
- Crushed ice
- Place the sliced cherries into a glass and smash them to allow the cherry juice to come out.
- Add water, lemon juice, and sugar. Stir to evenly incorporate the ingredients.
- Add crushed ice to the beverage. Then garnish with fresh mint leaves.
