Ever since we installed our wood floors it has driven me nuts that our furniture slides around easily, especially when we sit down. I bought some new chairs for our living room last month and every time you sit down in one it slides back at least a few inches. As someone who is slightly OCD, and wants my furniture to stay where I want it, this drives me crazy. Any of you with wood floors relate?
I got to the point last week where I finally snapped and said, “there HAS TO BE a solution to this madness!” So I went on a hunt. My husband suggested velcro, and I thought, “that might work”, but I figured there should be a product out there somewhere because I can’t be the only person on the planet with this problem. And then I found one…
They are called Grippers (they should be called “Sanity Savers”) and they are the answer for how to keep furniture from sliding on wood floors! I found these ones in Walmart but I couldn’t find a link to them anywhere online. (I did find these similar ones on Amazon.com though.)
All you have to do is stick them on the feet of your furniture and they will keep them from sliding around! I can’t tell you how many times my husband has plopped down on the couch and it shifted back so far that it moved the table behind it, or knocked something over. And I can’t tell you how many times I reposition the furniture, every single day. It’s seriously enough to make someone go mad, which is why I’m SO glad I finally found these Grippers!
If you have wood floors you need these. Don’t just put them on your never ending to-do list, seriously stop what you’re doing and go to Amazon.com right now! Trust me, you’ll be so happy you did!!! 🙂

I’m so glad you shared this. We *just* installed hardwood floors in 3 rooms of our home last month and the sliding furniture has been so frustrating. I found some of these grippers in town and snatched them up in hopes of them keeping the chairs and couch in place. They truly are sanity savers.

Can you still slide your furniture for cleaning around though?
Anna says
You have to put a little more effort into it, but yes, you can. 🙂

I’ve read that these leave a residue on the hardwood floors, though. Any knowledge/experience with that?
Anna says
I haven’t noticed anything on my floors, I wonder if it depends on the type of wood.

You are a scream! ? I love it! I am getting grippers tomorrow! Thanks?

Will this work on tile?
Anna says
Yep! Tile can be a little more slippery than wood but it will definitely help the chairs, table, or whatever it is, to not slide. 🙂
