How to get Stains out of Carpet (old, new & pet stains!)

We recently rearranged our bedroom and when we did I noticed a couple stains on the carpet. I have no idea how long they’d been there and where they even came from (gross!).

They’re like matching little stains right smack in the middle of the floor! I added the arrows because I learned that it’s really hard to take pictures of brown stains on tan carpet but in real life they are very noticeable. 🙂

Since I didn’t know what the stains were from I wanted to use a product that would keep them from coming back. I recently discovered Spot Shot, made by WD-40, that is great for getting rid of old and new stains AND keeps them from coming back!

Step #1

Shake the bottle to shake up the product really well.

Step #2

Spray the soiled area on the carpet with Spot Shot. Spray it in small amounts making sure not to saturate the carpet.

Step #3

For best results use your fingers to work the stain remover into the carpet fibers. I learned this from a carpet installer, years ago, and it works fabulously!

Step #4

Allow the product to sit for about 5 minutes then wipe/rub the area with a damp cloth.

Once the area is dry, vacuum the carpet and you’ll see that it’s as good as new! I’m totally a nerd but I love the feeling of getting stains out of something and making it look brand new again!

Spot Shot is awesome because you can use it on your carpets to get rid of old or new stains but you can also use it to get rid of tough stains in your laundry.

There is also a Spot Shot for pet accidents, not only will it clean the stain but it also removes any unwanted odors! I get asked all the time “what is the best way to get rid of pet stains,” and this is the easy answer!

If you haven’t already discovered Spot Shot, then I highly recommend adding it to your cleaning arsenal, it’s in mine!

I live in an apartment with very light-colored carpet and a leaky puppy… I’ve been looking at these awful stains for a few months now. I bought Spot Shot today (just the regular kind) and did exactly what the pictures show. My carpet looks brand new! I will remember this forever now!
