Hi, Susan here from Organized 31. Can you believe that Thanksgiving is almost here?! I’m not sure where the time has gone, but I do know that it’s time to get organized for the holidays. Today I’m sharing one of my favorite tips for organizing holiday meal ingredients.
I took a quick trip to my favorite warehouse store to grab a cardboard box tray. I like to use the boxes from the warehouse store because they’re sturdy.
I found this vinyl fabric in the clearance bin at my local craft store, but you could use regular fabric, wrapping paper or shelf paper. I used Mod Podge to adhere the fabric to the box, but spray adhesive would work just as well. Because the vinyl fabric is so thick, I used painter’s tape to hold it in place until the Mod Podge dried.
I added a label to clearly identify the contents.
I use this box to collect the ingredients I’ll need for the holiday meal. My family and any guests that are helping me prepare can easily see which ingredients are to be used for the holiday meal (and not be used for anything else). This helps prevent the last minute panic because I’m missing a key ingredient (ask me about the time I had to run to the local convenience store with my fingers crossed to snag that missing ingredient).
I also use a meal planning checklist to make sure I have everything I need for my holiday meal. What tips do you have for organizing holiday meal ingredients?

Hi Susan – Great ideas here, and especially helpful if you are entertaining for several meals over several days! Hugs, Holly

Thanks, Holly. I’ve only ever hosted one holiday meal, but you’ve got a great idea for those super hostesses that plan more than one big holiday meal.

I put the ingredients for each recipe in the dish I plan on using–disaster if you realize one pan was planned for use in two different dishes! Especially if your teens are making a dish too and aren’t thinking things thru to the finish.

Great tip, Tina. I definitely need to involve my teens more and that would require planning the dishes out. I’ll be using your tip next holiday meal.
