This is a sponsored post written by me on behalf of Clorox. All opinions are 100% mine.
Let me be honest, I like to use bleach. (Gasp!) I know a lot of people are against using bleach, for lots of reasons, but I’m a little old fashioned and I like to use it for certain things, especially for my white laundry. There was a time when I didn’t used to bleach my whites but that was before I met my college roommate, Sally. I remember having a debate one day with her about our white clothes and I said to her, “Do you really think your whites are whiter than mine because you use bleach?” Her answer was a very confident, “Yes”. So after that day I decided to give it a try, and I’ve never gone back.
I have a love/hate relationship with bleach because it keeps my clothes super white but I’ve also ruined a few shirt because of over-splashing (I’m not sure if that’s a real thing, or if I just made that up). I also don’t really like the way it smells when I put it in the laundry. I love the way my clothes smell when they are finished but when adding the bleach to a load of laundry it always makes me nose tickle.
So I was at Target the other day (let’s have a little shout out for Target, because I know you all love it as much as I do!) and I was super excited to stumble across a new product, Clorox MyUltimateCare Bleach.
Because of my love for bleach I thought I’d give it a try and see how it worked on my whites. One of the things that intrigued me was that it’s formulated to pre-treat stains, which is perfect for us since my daughter comes home from school with brown knees on her tights every day! I seriouly don’t know how she can get so dirty in such a short period of time.
I don’t normally pre-treat with bleach because I’m afraid it will eat through the fabric, but the Clorox MyUltimateCare Bleach is a much gentler product so I felt safe pre-treating her tights and leggings with it.
Something I really like about the Clorox MyUltimateCare Bleach is that it’s thick like detergent so it doesn’t splash. No more ruined shirts and pants because of bleach splatters, aka pink dots on my clothes. 🙁
I was also pleasantly surprised to find that even though it’s a Clorox bleach product, it doesn’t have a strong smell that you expect from a bleach product. It’s a much more mild scent that leaves your clothes smelling fresh and clean. So you end up with clean, bright whites, without the smell of bleach (you all know what I’m talking about). I think my college roommate would be so proud. 🙂
So where can you find it? It’s exclusively available at Target, not that you needed another reason to go stroll around Target, but now you have a good excuse to tell your husband! And if you use Target’s Cartwheel mobile app you can save 10%!
If you’re a fan of bleach, and still do laundry and clean with it, like I do, I’d love to hear your thoughts on the new Clorox MyUltimateCare Bleach. What’s your favorite way to use it?

Hi Anna,
Love your site but am going to have to unsub because the print here is so darn light! You haven’t reached the 60’s yet (almost 70!) and had the plague of decreasing vision. It’s just undoable. Wondering why your print is grey, rather than black?
Best to you!

I like to use bleach, too, on occasion. I do like to use it for household cleaning as well as for laundry. The smell is a bit strong, but dissipates, so that’s not one of the things that bugs me about it, and I usually am wearing old clothes I don’t care about when cleaning house or doing laundry anyhow, so oversplash is not an issue for me. Something people don’t know about is that with traditional bleach used in laundry, you’re supposed to add something to the rinse cycle to stop the bleaching action (otherwise the bleach does wear down the fabric fibers and elastic over time, resulting in weakened fibers and elastic), either hydrogen peroxide or baking soda, etc. My questions is this: when using this “new” bleach, is it still necessary to do that?

We have dark brown ceramic tile floors that look like wood. It is very hard to keep them clean. We vacuum and then use a Shark steam cleaner. They don’t look good when the sun shines in from back of house that faces west. Our house is only 5 months old and we have used only steam mop and vinegar water to clean them. Any suggestions on another cleaner? I have seen a Shark Sonic Duo and wonder if that would do a much better job than steam mop. It runs $200-250 so not rushing out to get it. I appreciate any advice you can offer. Thanks!

Hey Lois,
This is Monique, Anna’s assistant. Anna does not have too much expereince with tile but she has reviewed a couple of steam mops. You can find more info about them at these links: https://askannamoseley.com/2012/10/oreck-versavac-review-giveaway/
