I’m Randi from Dukes and Duchesses and I’m so thrilled to be posting at Ask Anna today! With Thanksgiving approaching, I want to share a simple DIY project that also doubles as a great reminder {and don’t we all need it sometimes?}: a give thanks wood burned plaque.
To make this plaque you’ll need a wood slice {mine is storebought not salvaged from nature} or other piece of wood, a wood burning tool, an embossing tool, and the text printed out in the size you’ll need and a font you like.
Hold the paper against the wood and go over the letters with the embossing tool. This will press the outline of the letters into the wood without leaving any permanent mark.
Heat the wood burning tool and go over the embossed letters. I used a thick tip and went over it a few times to get the look I wanted.
When the letters are finished, add simple dots or another decorative feature around the edge.
That’s it! You’ve got a sweet sign that will act as a great reminder for your family …
… and will make a perfect addition to a Thanksgiving centerpiece. And the best part? It’ll take less than twenty minutes to make!

I Randi! I really love your wood-burned plaque! I adore it’s natural look. Is it possible to purchase wood slices in craft stores?
