The Easiest way to Clean a Deck

Thank you HomeRight for sponsoring this cleaning tutorial and giveaway!

There’s something that really bothers me about a dirty deck. I don’t know if it’s because it’s ugly, or because when you walk out, and back into the house, it gets the floors dirty. Or if it’s because I have to ask my guests to carry their shoes from the front door to the back door so they won’t get the inside floors dirty, I don’t know. I feel like the inside should flow flawlessly out onto the deck so a dirty deck just erks me.

The easiest way to wash a deck - Ask Anna

I’ve tried sweeping, I’ve tried spraying it with a hose and neither has worked, so my dirty deck remains. And of course the irritation that goes along with it has also remained.

But then something amazing happened. (I know I sound dramatic but I can’t tell you how much the dirty deck bothers me!) Something amazing came in the mail from HomeRight, the Deck Washer.

The easiest way to wash a deck - Ask Anna

When I got it I thought, “duh, why didn’t I think of that?” It’s so simple but it’s seriously genius. Genius for real, like you all need to go get one this week!

Here’s what you do. First connect the Deck Washer to your hose. Turn the toggle to the “off” position so that when you turn the hose on, water doesn’t spray everywhere.

Hold the Deck Washer upright and turn the toggle to the “on” position.

Something that’s really cool is that you can turn the toggle “on” as much, or as little as you want. We live in California and right now we are in a huge drought so I feel guilty about using excess water. Even turning the toggle only half way on I was still able to get plenty of water pressure.

The bristles on the Deck Washer are stiff and do a good job scrubbing, so you don’t have to work too hard. I washed my entire deck in about 5 minutes and that includes turning the water off, moving around deck furniture, etc.

After I was done washing the deck I used the Deck Washer to clean off my indoor/outdoor rug. Easy peasy!

The easiest way to wash a deck - Ask Anna

I’m seriously giddy about how good the deck looks now. I think I might actually go out there and spend time out there now, up until now I’ve been avoiding it like the plague!
