DIY Hardwood Floor Cleaner

Today I’m going to share with you my super complicated, super secret hardwood floor cleaner. Actually it’s not complicated or secret, it’s really cheap and easy! All you need, to make this all-natural DIY hardwood floor cleaner, are these 4 items.

DIY wood floor cleaner - Ask Anna

Here’s what you need:

  • Empty spray bottle
  • Water
  • White cleaning vinegar
  • Lemon essential oil

Start by filling the spray bottle 1/4 full with white vinegar, then add 3-6 drops of lemon essential oil (or more if you want it to smell more lemony).

Fill the rest of the spray bottle up with water then lightly shake it to mix the ingredients. It’s that easy!

I use this wood floor cleaner when I use my hand mop and when I use my steam mop. I spray it on the floor in a small area (about 3′ by 3′) and then mop over it.

I love this floor cleaner because not only is it super easy to make but it’s also very inexpensive!

I love the smell of oranges so I use orange oil instead of lemon! They both smell wonderful!

If you want pure essential oils you can order them online here: http://mydoterra.com/increasinglydomestic. Most health stores also carry essential oils but make sure to ask if they are Certified Pure Therapeutic Grade essential oils.

Hi Anna I just submitted to your blog. Will the floor cleaner for wood floors also work on laminate wood floors?

We recently had hardwood installed and the installer told us not to use vinegar diluted or otherwise on hardwood as it damages the floor, as I use vinegar to clean almost everything I called the hardwood manufacturer and they also advised me to never use vinegar on the wood. as over time it is very damaging to the wood, it eats away at the protective coating and they also sent me a picture of samples of wood that had been repeatedly cleaned with vinegar mixture.and the damage was very apparent You might want to check into it some more,

That is good to know, I’d never heard that before! Thanks for the info, I’ll have to look into it.
