The transformation of our house has been a long journey but the results are a beautiful one that made it all worth it! As I do with all big projects, I want to share my experience with the products we used so that you are well informed going into your next big home project. Today I’m going to share my thoughts, opinions and my Lumber Liquidators review.
Our house went from this…
{This is a true before picture, it’s before we had moved in and before any changes had been made.}
To this…
Installing the hardwood flooring ourselves was a big project but here are the main things I took away from the experience:
- If we can do it anyone can.
- Lumber Liquidators has a plethora of resources to help you out, including a room design help page, How To vidoes and access to installation experts.
- You can also get samples of the flooring from Lumber Liquidators to help you decide which one to buy. The one we bought ended up being different from the one I thought was my favorite flooring. Seeing and feeling the samples made a HUGE difference in our final decision.
- If you going to put in new wood flooring go with a real hardwood. We’ve had laminates in the past but at the affordable prices of Lumber Liquidators it’s SO worth it to go with a real hardwood.
- Nail-in floors are the way to go. We were intimidated by the thought of nailing in our floors because we thought only the “experts” could do that well, but we were wrong. Nailing in the hardwood was a breeze and it was so much easier, and way less of a mess, than gluing down wood floors and it was even easier than installing a click-in laminate! Don’t be intimidated, it’s way easier than you imagine it to be!
- I would purchase flooring from Lumber Liquidators again. My readers on Facebook have told me good and bad things about working with Lumber Liquidators but my overall experience was a great one! From emailing to phone calls, to answering my millions of questions, to receiving my product 2 days after ordering it, and more, I would highly recommend working with their great team! I have been impressed with their service, their products and I will definitely use them again when we eventually rip out all the carpet downstairs.
The Moso bamboo hardwood is a beautiful product and I’m glad we chose it. At first I was a little hesitant about the “grooved” look of bamboo but now I appreciate it because it helps hide dust and other stuff.
The Moso bamboo also has beautiful coloring. In most lighting it looks dark brown but if the lighting is right you can see the depth and richness of the wood.
Let me tell you more about the product and our experience in this video.
Are you in the market for new floors? If you have any questions about our experience with Lumber Liquidators, our choice of flooring, etc. please feel free to leave a comment below and I’ll get back to you!

Anna, your floors look amazing!!! The whole transformation is beautiful. It’s hard to believe it’s the same house! I’m sure you are exhausted from all of the hard work. A job well done, for sure!
Anna says
Thank you Sarah!! 🙂

Beautiful, just beautiful. You did a terrific job. We want to do something like this in my kitchen and family room as they run into each other but right now we just don’t have the funds for it. Thanks so much for sharing.

Hi Anna, thank you so much for sharing this. We had a house fire in December and so are rebuilding the house now. It is really hard to know which flooring is best. We had slate and marble checkerboard in the kitchen previously, contractor suggested doing hardwood in kitchen, dining, living and down the hallway. Do you have any thoughts on hardwood in the kitchen?
Anna says
This is the second house we have put hardwood in the kitchen and I love it. You have to be careful if the dishwasher or fridge flood that you clean up the water really well, but I like hardwood in the kitchen because it’s softer on your feet and it’s so much warmer than tile. It’s also WAY easier to clean. 🙂

Planning on ordering bamboo flooring from LL today before sale goes off. Yours looks gorgeous!! Can you tell me how you clean it? Thanks so much. Jo Ann

Awesome, you will love them!! They are SO durable! I clean my floor 2 ways, depending on my mood. 🙂 Here are both – https://askannamoseley.com/2014/05/the-bissell-symphony-one-step-challenge/, https://askannamoseley.com/2014/03/diy-wood-floor-cleaner/.

Are you still loving your floors? We just purchased 8000.00 worth of flooring from LL and then I come home and read all horrible reviews about them. I was and am sick with worry. However my husband keeps reassuring me that it will be fine and every hardwood floor manufacturer has bad reviews and only the bad ones are writing reviews because the happy people are enjoying their floors. So please tell me you are still happy!
Anna says
Yes, I agree with your husband, people like to complain but the happy people are so happy they forget to go on and write a good review. We still LOVE our floors! We eventually will purchase even more of them from LL because we still want to do the upstairs bedrooms and the stairs going down to the lower level. LL was great to work with which is why I went out of my way to do my reviews and my video review. I think you’ll be happy so don’t let it worry you anymore. 🙂

Hi Anna! I know this is going to be a weird question, but do you by any chance have an extra box of this bamboo flooring you’d like to sell?
Anna says
I don’t sorry! We also don’t live in that house anymore but I know they discontinued that color because the new owner let me know. 🙁
