If you follow me on Facebook and Instagram then you’ve been getting glimpses of all the changes going on in our new house. We moved in about 2 months ago and we have already started on some big projects!
Right now we are working on opening up the kitchen to the living room and then closing off the other side of the living room, to give the bedrooms privacy. We demoed a couple weeks ago so I wanted to show you the before pictures, and then what it looks like now.
Here is what the living room and kitchen looked like BEFORE looking from right to left.
Here’s what it looks like now.
Yeah, it’s way better. Now when you walk in the front door you see windows and views all around!
There is a TON of work that still needs to be done, the kitchen will look nothing like this when I’m done with it, but here’s what’s coming up in the near future.
I also want to get rid of the black table, get a round one, and then build built-in seating in the breakfast nook.
Here’s what’s going to be happening in the next couple weeks on the other side of the living room.
I know it seems silly to tear down a wall, only to build another wall, but this is a must. I really want to build a wall on this side of the living room so that people can’t see into our bedrooms when they walk in the door. It will also make it a lot quieter in the bedrooms when we have people over.
I’m going to hang our TV on this wall and put a large dresser under it for media storage. I bought this beautiful dresser off Craigslist and here’s what the dresser looks like pre-painting.
Just for fun I thought you’d like to see a couple demolition pictures and videos.
So what do you think of all the changes and upcoming plans? I’m already dreaming up my new kitchen and I can’t wait to show you the design board for it!

You mentioned beautiful dark wood floors going in. I have them. Horrid! They are only clean about 15 mins then show everything. I have tired it all. I look like the worst housekeeper. Any suggestions?

We had dark hardwood in our old house and I loved them. I think the key is finding a wood floor that isn’t shiny so it doesn’t show as much dust. I also vacuum mine every couple days.

Love your vision. The work seems never ending but the results are worth it if you create the living space you love. Great before and during shots, I look forward to the after photos. Jo @ Let’s Face the Music
