Oreck Magnesium Vacuum Review

I am so excited to introduce to you a fantastic set of vacuum cleaners!  My friends, meet the “Brand New, Oreck Magnesium Vacuum Cleaner Power Team”!!!

 

Oreck sent me this dynamic duo to review and I was eager for the opportunity to try out a pair of vacuum cleaners from such a well known and reputable company.  As a consumer I value product reviews when looking to make a purchase so what you are reading today are my honest opinions.

The thing I love the most about the Magnesium is how flat it can get!

Definitely don’t need a super power to vacuum under that couch, check out what the Magnesium can do!

One of my biggest pet peeves when I’m vacuuming is sucking up rugs.  It drives me nuts when I have to stop vacuuming to pull a rug out of the vacuum, but no longer will I have to worry about that!  With the LOW speed option on the Magnesium now I can vacuum rugs without ever having to worry about catching an edge!  It even vacuums my shag rug with ease!  AND if you accidentally get too close to the curtains {or a princess dress that was left on the ground}, and the vacuum sucks it up, it automatically shuts itself off!  No more will you have to sit on the ground trying to unravel your beautiful drapes from the vacuum cleaner!

The Magnesium is also super light and easy to maneuver.  Not only does it weigh seven pounds {yeah, only 7!  Can you believe it?} but it is self-propelled which makes vacuuming a quick and easy task.  No more lugging around super heavy vacuums and breaking your back for clean carpets!  Even my 3 year old {princess} can push the Magnesium around!

I also love the finishes of the Magnesium.  I have to admit I’m pretty rough on my vacuums.  Because I like to vacuum every nook and cranny, my previous vacuum is totally beat up.  It has scratches and dings all over it.  However with the rubber finishes of the Magnesium I won’t have to worry about scratching up my cabinets or my vacuum!  I also love the light on the front of the vacuum because it helps me see every crumb and hair that needs to be vacuumed up!  It also helps me to see in dark corners and closets where there aren’t lights.

I’ll be honest I was a little skeptical about using the Magnesium on my hardwood floors but because of the rubber tires and how easily the vacuum glides across the floor it has become my preferred vacuum for the wood floors {don’t tell my other vacuum}!

The Ultimate Handheld is also fantastic!  I’ve been wanting to purchase a handheld vacuum for a long time but I am so glad that I held out for the Oreck handheld.  Check out all the attachments that come with it!

HIGHS
2 vacuum settings: high and low.  The low speed is great for vacuuming rugs.
Incredibly light.  Even Malea can put it around.
The hand held comes with a ton of attachments!
Flexible, maneuvers around corners well.
The engine shuts down when you suck something up so that you don’t ruin the motor.
Self-propelled.

 
LOWS
It’s loud.  With my other vacuum I could vacuum during my daughter’s naps but with the Magnesium that’s not an option.
 
I’m not ready to part with my other vacuum yet, because I’m emotionally attached to it after 6 years, however I haven’t used it since I received the Magnesium.  {Shocking, I know!}  I have to admit I was even surprised at how much I ended up liking the Magnesium.  I liked it even more after I recently steam cleaned my carpets and there was hardly any extra hair and gunk that came out of the carpet, just means the my fantastic new vacuum cleaneris doing it’s job, thank you Oreck!!!

    I would love to win the Oreck. The sweeper I have is old but still picks up but it is heavy to push and I have back problems. This would be great weighing only 7 pounds.

    Beautiful site!!! I’ve really enjoyed reading all the wonderful tips and tricks you share on a regular basis.

    With that said, I would absolutely SQUEAL with delight (scary, huh?) if I won a new vacuum cleaner. The 2 dogs I inherited shed so very much……

    I was looking at this earlier today and came to your website and found this review. How awesome! I have all wood & tile floors in my home, does it reall work that well for hard surfaces? Love your website!

      I don’t have tile so I can’t speak for that but it works great on my hardwood. It just glides right over them. 🙂

    This is an amazing giveaway. Thank you Oreck for offering, thank you, Anna, for hosting. I have been without a vacuum for over a year now. Yes, I sweep my rugs. Really bummed too. I bought a $400 vacuum just to have to have it crap out within a month. So I am really crossing my fingers my entry gets drawn from the hat!

    Reading and watching the review, what I wanted to know most of all was: How much does it weigh? I’m happy to hear how light-weight it is! I have a bad back and vacuuming is so painful for me!

    Hi Anna,

    My mom has the Oreck Magnesium RS & I absolutely LOVE it! She traded her older model in at the Oreck store & they gave her a credit towards the Magnesium. They run about $499 NEW. I’ve been looking on e-bay at the Oreck Magnesium RS & am noticing that a lot of them are listed as “old floor models” used in stores only. What are some questions to ask (on ebay) and do you have any other recommendations on where to find one at a good price?

      I’m not sure about what questions to ask but if they were only used as floor models I’m sure the will still be in good condition. I’ve had mine for a couple years not and it still works great!

      As for deals, I would shop around and see what stores sell the Oreck, that will be offering Black Friday deals. You could also ask stores if they have any “open box” deals, which are vacuums that were purchased and then brought back. Usually you can get a great deal if you can find an “open box” deal. 🙂
