Here are a few quick tips for how to clean appliances with vinegar! Forget harsh chemicals and clean your appliances the all-natural way!
#1 Dishwasher
Many of you may have seen my previous post on How to Clean your Dishwasher. But if you didn’t here’s a re-cap. To “remove built-up soap film and increase [dishwasher] performance [pour] 1 cup of undiluted white vinegar into the bottom of the [dishwasher], or in a bowl on the top rack. Then run the machine through a full cycle without any dishes or detergent.” When it has finished the cycle wipe down the inside of the dishwasher with a damp cloth.
#2 Oven
“To remove grease, grime and cooking spills from inside your oven make a paste of 1 cup white vinegar and 1/4 cup of powdered laundry detergent. Heat your oven for 5 minutes at 180 degrees, [then turn it off]. Spread the paste around the oven, applying it more heavily to very greasy areas. Leave [the] paste on for an hour, then use a plastic spatula to gently scrape the [grime] away.

To prevent grease build up from even happening in the oven “dip a sponge or cloth in full strength white vinegar and wipe down all sides of the oven.”
#3 Microwave

“To clean your microwave, place a glass bowl filled with a solution of 1/4 cup [white] vinegar in 1 cup of water inside the microwave, [then heat] the mixture for 5 minutes on the highest setting. Once the bowl cools, dip a cloth into the liquid and use it to wipe away stains and splatters on the” inside of the microwave. Be sure to wear rubber gloves to prevent burning your hands!

Thank you so much for the posts I love it!
I just used my orange peel vinegar that had been sitting for 2 weeks to clean my oven yesterday. It worked amazing! Much easier than regular vinegar. I diluted it 1:1 with water.
Thank you for your tips Anna….Sincerely, Anna

Hi, is this cleaning method safe for gas ovens?
Hey Jami,
This is Monique, Anna’s Assistant. Anna believes that this should be okay with a gas oven, however she suggests to contact the manufacture to be sure seeing as they are the professionals and Anna is only a semi-expert 😉 Hope this helps!
