How to get Wine out of Carpet

Every year Matt and I throw a wine tasting party. It’s a great party where we enjoy amazing wine pared with even more amazing food followed by a few rounds of The Newly Wed Game. It’s great fun and we have yet to have any spilled wine… until this year. This year our friend Brian got a little into the game and he accidentally spilled some red wine on my brand new white carpet! I think silence fell over the room when he did it and I’m pretty sure Brian had a mental image of me leaping across the room and ripping his head off. (Can you imagine it?) Well that’s not exactly what happened. I actually laughed because I knew he was horrified and that I didn’t really care because I have the quickest and easiest solution for how to get wine out of carpet. In fact twice, not once but TWICE, I have spilled an entire glass of red wine on our white carpet (not in this house but in our other house). For some reason I’m always the one that this stuff happens to!

So anyways, back to my story. While everyone was panicking I went into my laundry room and grabbed my trusty carpet cleaner and headed back into the room. All I did was bend down, spray a few squirts of cleaner on it, rub it in with my fingers and VIOLA! the red wine stain vanished.

Everyone’s reactions were the best part of the party for me that night. Everyone in the room was shouting, “No way!”, “What? Where did it go?”, “Oh my gosh, what is that stuff?!” It was hilarious and I couldn’t help but crack up. I think I should have received a commission for the sales of that product the next morning because I think they sold a lot of it!  So what is this trusty product you ask?

It is Woolite’s PET Stain & Oder Remover+ Oxygen. It works great on removing wine stains, cat hair ball stains, cat poop stains, baby spit up stains and all those other gross things that I’ve had end up on my carpet. In my house we never go without this product, because as soon as we run out I’m sure a stain is bound to happen!

I’d love to hear what you’ve used it to get out of your carpet!!

    Hi Anna,
Just wondered if you’ve got a tip for cleaning coffee and red cordial from carpet (these are old stains).
    Thanks in advance,

Honestly I would say to use the Woolite stuff. It has gotten everything out that I’ve ever tried it on. If it doesn’t work let me know and I’ll see what I can find for you. 🙂

Will this also work on red Popsicle stains? Do you have any hints on how yo clean dirty linoleum floors?

This stuff works on everything! There’s also a new product that I’ve been really happy with, it’s gotten out everything I’ve tried it on, here’s the link: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0038XX2NI/ref=as_li_qf_sp_asin_il_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=9325&creativeASIN=B0038XX2NI&linkCode=as2&tag=askan01-20.
