I’m excited about this post because I’ve been wanting to organize my paint cans for a long time now! Years ago, when we built our first house, my painter told me that it’s very important to store paint in the house. When you store it outside in the extreme temperatures the paint gets damaged and won’t last as long. Since then it has always been a struggle for me to find enough cupboard space to store all my paint cans, and I have a lot, well, you know because I have a serious sickness and I like to paint!
I don’t know why I didn’t think of it years ago but a couple months ago I was at Lowe’s when I stumbled across these small 1 quart cans. I wanted to buy them all but I figured I’d start with 5 and then slowly add to my “collection”.
I started by pouring all the paint from my large, gallon-size cans into the smaller paint cans. Aren’t the colors pretty? Putting then all next to each other like this made me realize how much I love the colors of my home.
Before placing the lids on the cans I used my Silhouette and cut out labels for each of them.
After putting the lids on the cans I added a label to each one.
I always like to know the number of the paint color, and what room it’s in, so I added all the necessary info to each label.
Voila! Much smaller and easier to store than the gallon-size cans! Not to mention much cuter!
The best part is that now they fit in the cupboard so much easier! Instead of storing paint in 3 different closets around the house, now it’s all stored in one organized location!
The large paint cans are colors I borrowed, I need to give them back and get them out of my organized space!
It only took me 6 years to figure this out, but better late then never right?! I will definitely be going back to Lowes to purchase some more of these quart-size cans. How do you organize paint cans? Do you have another organized system for storing them, I’d love to hear it!
