Because I didn’t have enough going on with tiling the kitchen backsplash and making over the downstairs bathroom, I decided to throw in another little mini-makeover in our breakfast nook area. Truth be told this area has driven me crazy for a while now but I needed to get a little fire under my buns to actually do something with it, and tiling the kitchen wall was just what I needed to motivate me! Now that the kitchen is almost complete I figured it was time to make the space next to it pretty too. 🙂
Let’s take a quick look at the before and then I’ll show you what it looks like now. Here’s the before from when I first got the table.
Recently I painted the walls gray, which made it WAY better, so here’s my other before picture, the way it has looked for a couple months now. BORING!
With a few little tweaks, painting/staining the table and adding some accessories, here’s what it looks like now.
I love these Bankston Dining chairs from the Better Homes and Gardens line at Walmart. They were just the chairs I was looking for to finish out the space and the color was the inspiration I needed to finally redo my Craigslist find dining table (tutorial coming next week).
The best seating at the table though is our window seat that we built shortly after we moved into the house.
I found these fun BHG pillows on Walmart.com that accessorize the space perfectly and make for a little extra padding when you’re sitting against the wall. They were also super inexpensive, they ranged from $9 to $15, isn’t that a steal! Cute, functional and affordable, that’s my kind of decorating! 😉
And check out these cute little salt and pepper shakers. I was walking through the store and they caught my eye so I just had to buy them. 🙂
I’m so happy with how our kitchen eat-in area looks now that it’s FINALLY finished! What do you think of our “new” space, would you like to come over and join us for dinner?

Absolutely stunning! We inherited a Hitchcock table and chairs. The table needs refinishing and I love this idea.
