I am so excited, like jumping out of my skin excited, to finally get to show you our outdoor living room!!! Did you see my partial reveal over on the Arhaus blog last Friday? For weeks I’ve been decorating, building and accessorizing the space to make it the perfect outdoor entertaining spot. We’ve already had a couple parties this summer but now that the living room is finally finished, I can’t wait to have people over! Warning: this is a picture heavy post because there’s so much to show you!
You know I love a good before and after so let me remind you where we started, here’s the before –
For people like my husband and I, who love to entertain, this space was not working for us! I liked the yellow swing but it was dry rotted out and was falling apart, literally, like every time you’d swing on it, one of the legs came up. So even though it was a little sad, it had to go. Okay, are you ready to see the transformation? I sure hope so because I’ve been dying to show you!!!
When I look at the before and after pictures, I still can’t even believe it’s the same space! I had so much fun creating the living room space, my goal was to make it warm, inviting and comfortable, just like an indoor living room. I worked with Arhaus, and I loved working with them because their furniture and accessories are beautiful and give it the high end look I wanted but still a comfortable spot where friends want to hang out.
First let’s talk about the Louise Chandelier. I’m in love with it and it was my inspiration piece for the whole space. As soon as I saw it on their website I new I had to have it. Technically it’s an indoor chandelier but it’s rustic style make it the perfect accessory for our outdoor space.
If you’ve been following our house makeovers then you know I love adding a chandelier to any space (the pantry, my closet, my office, etc.).
After I’d found the perfect inspiration piece I started looking for the perfect sofa. I wanted an elegant sofa but one that would still be comfortable. I wanted it to say, “come sit on me, hangout, have a drink, stay as long as you want.”
What do you think? Does it say that to you? I was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable the Wyatt 3-piece sectional is because most outdoor sofas I’ve tried, are not that comfortable. I think it’s my new “happy place”, I fell asleep watching the lightening on it a couple weeks ago. 🙂
Oh, and see that coffee table? Matt and I made it last week. We used the left over Ipe wood from our outdoor kitchen and I’m super happy with how it turned out. I’m going to post a tutorial soon, so you can make your own. 🙂
The outdoor lanterns on top of the table are also from Arhaus and they are awesome! I had no idea how big they would be when I ordered them (I’m not very good with dimensions) and I have a problem with always buying things that are too small for a space, I’m learning but I still suck sometimes. So when these HUGE lanterns showed up I was afraid they’d be too big but they are actually perfect!
This is the Calypso 17″ lantern and the Calypso Cut-out lantern, aren’t they fun!? They are like the lanterns I’d always dreamed of but never had the sense to actually buy!
The other DIY thing I am excited about in this space is my wine barrel side table. I got this wine barrel from my father-in-law YEARS ago and I always wanted to cut it in half but never actually did it. It was just one of those projects that was too far down the list. 🙂 But when it came time to decorate the outdoor living room I finally asked Matt to cut it for me. I think its fun and adds nice texture to the space.
Okay, now for some more fun pictures because I want to make sure you see every inch of the space. 🙂
Oh my goodness, I know that’s a lot of pictures but I wanted you to feel like you’re really there with me. 🙂 So what do you think of our outdoor living room? Have I inspired you to make some outdoor living space at your house? I sure hope so because we’ve really been enjoying ours!
