I’ve been dreaming about real stone countertops for years. We faked the look in our last house by using Giani Granite but it’s just not the same. When we moved into this house the last owner had installed Granite Transformations and everyone that came over liked them, but I hated them. They were definitely not granite and I couldn’t stand thinking about how dirty and gross all the layers were underneath the Granite Transformation layer.
So for years I’ve been dreaming about REAL marble countertops, something white, something clean, something simple, something like this pin that I’ve had pinned for years.
I love a nice white kitchen, don’t you? But before you can have a nice white kitchen you have to do demo, which is what we did 4th of July weekend.
Anyways last week all my dreams came true! Before you look at these pictures keep in mind that there is A LOT left to do, so focus only on the counters. 🙂
Did you notice we also took down the skinny upper cabinet on the right? (I still need to paint where it used to hang) If you follow me on Instagram then you probably saw the debate on whether or not to keep it. In the end I’m so glad I decided to take it down, I think the shelves are much prettier than the awkward single upper cabinet. 🙂
I still need to finish repainting the cabinets (it’s a long story that I’ll share later), we have the new window on order and we have to install the subway tile backslash. But when I focus on how peaceful and pretty the marble is, all that seems to fade into the distance.
I can’t wait to cook in this kitchen for years to come, to grow old with my marble (okay, now I’m just being silly but I’m seriously SO excited) and to watch it change over time as we live in this space.
I know marble is supposed to be hard to clean and maintain but I’m a freak about my kitchen being cleaned so I’m excited about the challenge. What do you think of marble? I can’t wait to show you the finished kitchen when we are done with it!!

Hi! Your marble looks beautiful! I didnt know that it is hard to clean, though. If I ever get stone countertops I wonder if I should get something easier to clean. But I adore the look of marble!! Congrats!

I think if you love them then it’s worth it! They aren’t that hard to clean, it’s just keeping them clean that’s the problem because it’s a very absorbent stone. 🙂
