After our kitchen construction was finished I was eager to stock it and organize it. I remember ages ago, when I moved out into my first apartment, my dad took me to Walmart and helped me pick out everything I’d need in my new kitchen. Keeping that experience in mind I did the same thing when it was time to stock our outdoor kitchen. We were starting from scratch so I needed all the necessities, including silverware, napkins, plates, bowls, cups, scrub brushes for the dishes, etc.
The only difference between our outdoor kitchen and a regular kitchen, is that I don’t have any drawers, just open shelves, so I stocked up on kitchen organizing racks to make lots of extra storage space, then I bought these clear boxes for organizing everything because I knew they’d be the perfect substitute for drawers. I love how clean and organized it all looks!
The boxes are all clearly labeled and all my kitchen stuff is stored with the lids on the boxes so I things won’t get dusty, or wet when it rains.
Another must-have in a new kitchen is silverware! I bought these awesome Better Homes and Gardens flatware from Walmart. They were inexpensive but look great and will last a long time, way better than using plastic silverware and filling up the landfills!
When all the fun Better Homes and Garden stuff came out earlier this summer I scooped up a bunch of plates and bowls for our new kitchen. I stared at them for months just waiting for out kitchen to be done but now I get to enjoy them on the shelves and we’ve already used them for a bunch of BBQs!
And of course every new kitchen needs cutting boards and knives. I bought a 6-inch utility knife and a 7-inch Santoku knife that are both Better Homes and Gardens brand, and will be perfect for cutting meat for the grill or fruit for our side dishes. The cutting boards came in a 3-pack so I was super stoked about that!
Once the kitchen was stocked and organized I also needed to get some bar stools for the other side of the bar. I’m totally loving the metal bar stools you see all over the place right now and the best part is that Walmart had some that were BHG brand, for way less than I could find them anywhere else!
I think they go perfectly with the wood on the bar and the gray in the granite.
Now that our kitchen is stocked and we have stools to hang out on, I can’t wait to throw more BBQs! We’ve already had a Luau for my friend’s birthday and a 4th of July party! I wish you all lived closer because it would be so much fun to have you all over!

I love the look of the metal bar stools. It really goes well with the wood fascia. I want to decorate my outdoor space and give it a modern feeling. Hopefully, finding some great pieces like you did will help set the tone.
