This closet makeover is sponsored by EasyClosets but, as always, all opinions are my own.
Are you as excited as I am to see Malea’s new organized closet!? I’m SO excited because this has been a long time coming. Remember how ugly and impracticable it was before with the clothing rods too tall for her to reach?
Well not anymore! After designing the perfect closet for this space and installing it, it’s now beautiful AND totally functional!
Isn’t it dreamy? One of the big problems with the old closet was that there wasn’t anywhere to put her toys. I had them in baskets on the ground but they were hard to get to with the overlapping closet doors. By removing the doors, and adding the center set of drawers, now we have tons of toy storage that is easy for her to get to.
The very top drawer is empty but when she’s older it will be perfect for storing clothes in. The second drawer down is where are all of her dollies are stored. It’s a little tall for her now but she uses the little gray stool to help her get to them easily. The drawer below that holds all her Barbies.
Below that is a feature I was really excited about when I designed the closet. Instead of continuing the drawers all the way down I added a hamper which is currently the perfect amount of space for all her stuffed animals! Some day when she’s older and won’t have a bunch of stuffed animals she can use it as a dirty clothes hamper, but for now it’s the perfect storage solution for her fuzzy friends. 🙂
Aside from how awesome the drawers and hamper are, I’m also excited that Malea can finally reach her clothes!
I designed it with 3 separate hanging areas that are all moveable so as she gets taller, and her clothes get longer, we can adjust them accordingly. Having her shirts and skirts on a lower bar has made her picking out her clothes SO much easier! Now she doesn’t have to call me every time she needs something. I still have her dresses hung up higher but that’s my own strategy for her not wearing all of them every day! When she gets out of that phase I’ll move them down to where her princess dresses are now. 🙂
I also love all the extra shelf space where she can keep her keepsakes like her first Bible, a painting from her sister, her grandma’s old cheerleading megaphone, an American flag that a soldier gave her and so many other things she finds as she gets older.
Another great feature, which we also had in her last closet, is a valet pole. It’s a great place to hang the next day’s outfit, her clothes as she’s putting them on hangers, etc. When I showed her this feature she said, “That is so awesome!”
Now that the closet is installed I keep asking myself why I didn’t do this over a year ago! Especially because it was SO easy! The whole installation from start to finish took us less than 3 hours! It’s only been in for about a week but it is already making our lives easier. Malea loves it and when I asked her what her favorite thing about it was she said, “I like that it’s organized and not cluttered like my last closet.” Truly a girl after my own heart! 🙂
What do you think of the transformation? What’s your favorite feature? Will you be coming back on Friday for the $1,000 EasyClosets giveaway?! I really hope you do! 🙂

I NEED this in my life 6xs over. With a big family like ours we could use some serious organization.

Do you have an estimated cost for this closet layout? And what if I wanted to leave on the sliding overlap doors, could i move the drawers a little to one side to make them usable with closet doors? i love the shelving and drawers especially…both my girls’ closets could use this.

Yes, you can design it however you want and move things around so the doors could stay on. This particular closet it pretty narrow so there wasn’t enough room to have the drawers if I left the doors on. This closet set up cost me about $840 but there are definitely ways to do it a little less expensive, I just love all the add-ons, like the knobs and the valet pole. 🙂

That is absolutely gorgeous! I’m going to be reorganizing and redecorating my sons’ bedroom this Spring and can’t wait for it to be all pretty and functional!

I have my daughters closet that is in DEEP need of a makeover. It is an awkward shape, so I want to utilize all space possible. This looks perfect! You did a great job!!

I just showed my daughter. I dream of providing this for her. I am a disabled, single Mom who tries all the DIY projects I can but many are a challenge and my daughter is a sweet kid and the ideal age for this. Right now she has a single bar at adult height and two levels of shelves. I would sacrifice any of my material items that aren’t given in a religious or sentimental purpose for a shot at this makeover. Inreceive no money from anyone not even the government.
