A couple months ago I approached my husband with a set of plans that I’d printed off of Ana White’s website. To say he was excited about it would be a lie, in fact I think the idea of a huge project like this was the last thing he wanted. To make sure the project would get completed, in a timely manner, I played my cards by telling Malea all about this awesome bed that her daddy was going to build her and that it had a bed “way up in the sky”. I know, it was a low move, but you gotta do what you gotta do. 🙂 For the next month Malea told everyone about this bed that daddy was going to build her, she was so excited!
So a few weeks ago Matt started on the bed, and to be honest, I think I was more excited than Malea! I have to say that he really impressed me! He worked so hard for a couple weekends in a row and even came home from work a little early a few days. In all I think it took him 4 full days and maybe one 1/2 day. It was a lot of work but it is so cool!!!
Now that he has completed the construction of the bed it’s my turn to paint it. My plan is to start after Christmas but I couldn’t wait that long to show all of you, because seriously this is the coolest bed! So here are a few sneak peek pictures and I’ll post more once it is completed.
We had to remove the fan in her room because the bed was a perfect platform for her to grab the blades. I didn’t mind though because I think the chandelier is much prettier. 🙂
We still have her toddler mattress and it looks a little dwarfed by the twin size bed. A twin size mattress is on the list of things to buy!
Under the bed in the playhouse. She has a kitchen, sitting area and a table. Seriously I think every little girl should have a bed like this! I wish I’d had one!!!
Her very own Christmas tree. She insisted on the colored lights. 🙂 She likes to decorate it, take off the decorations and then re-decorate it.
My favorite part: hidden storage for toys!
Here she is, her first night going to sleep in her new bed!!!
