This summer we went out with some friends and I noticed a new-ish drink on the menu. I was intrigued by this “Moscow Mule”, so I ordered it, and to my surprise, I really liked it. I was refreshing, tasty and came in a copper mug that kept it extra cold!
For my birthday two of my best friends surprised me and bought me a set of hammered copper mugs so we could make our own Moscow Mules at home.
Lucky for me my friends husband is also a master drink mixer and researched Moscow Mule recipes to create his own version of it which is by far the best Moscow Mule recipe I have tried!
The BEST Moscow Mules
Ingredients:
- 2 oz Vodka
- 1/2 oz Freshly squeezed lime juice (Here’s the lime juicer I use)
- 5 oz Ginger beer
- Mint and lime for garnish
Directions:
- Fill a copper mug with ice. (These are the ones I have)
- Pour in vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer.
- Stir to combine all the ingredients.
- Add fresh mint sprigs and lime slices as a garnish and to give it a little hint of mint flavor.
The combination of freshly squeezed lime juice, ginger beer and the hint of mint are absolutely fabulous! I also love that the copper mugs keep the drink so cold, they are an added bonus to such a delicious drink. If you don’t have a set of copper mugs, don’t worry you can still enjoy this tasty Moscow Mule, just mix it up in a Tom Collins Glass or a Mason Jar.

- ½ oz Freshly squeezed lime juice
- 5 oz Ginger beer
- Mint and lime for garnish
- Fill a copper mug with ice.
- Pour in vodka, lime juice, and ginger beer.
- Stir to combine all the ingredients.

Enjoy!

What kind of ginger beer did you use?
Anna says
The brand is Reeds. I also use the Trader Joe’s brand sometimes. 🙂

Stoli makes a good ginger beer, 4 eight ounce cans in a pack. We use 4 ounces of ginger beer to 2 ounces of Ruby Red Grapefruit vodka plus the 1/2 ounce of lime juice. Great refreshing drink!
Anna says
That sounds amazing! I’m going to have to try that!! Thanks for the tip. 🙂

Perfect recipe but one thing is glaringly wrong here. The copper mug is not there just to keep it cold but it also adds to the flavor and is an absolute must or the drink is just so so.

Is this something that you can make ahead…like a pitcher full for a party?
Anna says
Yep, definitely!!!
