I don’t know about your kids but my daughter LOVES to take baths. If we let her she would probably stay in there all night. Awhile back I found some multicolored tub crayons that I thought she’d love, and I was right! She loved being able to express her artistic ability all over the shower/tub.
When I walked in and saw this I just started laughing. I was glad that she’d loved the crayons but I’d never expected she’d cover the entire surface with them! 🙂 It’s moments like these that make me glad I have this blog and I have another challenge to figure out.
Bath crayons are even more sticky and greasy than regular crayons so I knew I couldn’t use a regular sponge and bath cleaner, so how do you get bath crayons off the tub?
I thought I’d give it a try and to my excitement, it worked! First you have to get the eraser pad really wet, if it’s not all the way wet the pad will drag from the stickiness of the crayon so it needs to be soaked.
Then start scrubbing away.
There are different brand of bath crayons but with the one I bought the orange doesn’t come off as easily as the other colors. The waxy part comes off but it leaves a pink residue on the tub.
To clean the pink residue off the tub I had to bring out the big guns, all purpose cleaner with bleach and my Scotch Brite scrubbing sponge.
Spray the pink with the all purpose cleaner and then scrub it really well with the Scotch Brite.
It comes off pretty easily but it does take a little scrubbing action. 🙂 Once it’s gone, rinse the tub and voila, it’s as clean as new!
Now we can let our kids enjoy the bath crayons as much as they want to because we know it’s easy to get off!

Good, at first I thought how easy it should be to get these crayons off things, but voila, its not… ^.^
Thank you

Thank you for this tip! Our tub is white and from the 50’s. Even after getting a water softener and trying ever type of hard water chemical remover, we still had stains. Took my daughter doodling everywhere with bath crayons to get me to find your blog and two heavy duty magic erasers, but it looks like new! Can’t believe I never thought to try this before…

Awesome! I’m glad it helped solve 2 problems at once. 🙂

Anna…we don’t have tile…its plastic/vinyl. The crayon has been there awhile. I got the actual crayon off but it left what looks like stains underneath… I’ve used magic eraser, bleach, Toilet gel, vinegar, nail polish remover…
Nothing. Please help.

Oh no!!! The only other thing I can think to try would be this trick with cornstarch – https://askannamoseley.com/2013/05/green-cleaning-with-corn-starch-baking-powder-cream-of-tarter/. If that doesn’t work maybe revisit the bleach but with a bleach pen and let it sit on the stain for 15 min before scrubbing it off. Good luck!! Let me know if it helps. 🙂

Hello! I saw your post about removing the bath crayon stains and was wondering what cleaner you used exactly? My daughter used bath crayons on our spa like tub and we have been unable to get the same pink residue off. We’ve tried literally everything! Bleach, rubbing alcohol, magic eraser, you name it! We are so desperate as we are in a rental apartment. Thanks in advance!

Hi Tiffany! With the bath crayons I used a Magic Eraser. It takes a little elbow grease to get the darker colors off but it did work. I also use hydrogen peroxide to clean my bath/showers, so I’d use the Magic Eraser and then follow up with a good scrubbing with H2O2. I hope you can get it off!!!
