Last week I showed you all the inspiration pictures I used to inspire my living room gallery wall, and today I’m ready to show you the reveal! Here’s what the wall used to look like, after I painted it, but before anything was on it.
It’s a good looking wall but it’s HUGE and desperately needed to be filled! I had been collecting frames and old windows for a few months and when we finally had time I was ready to hang the gallery wall.
The first thing I had to do was lay it out. I’ll be honest, I think cutting paper out the size of the frames and hanging it first is genius, however that’s not really how I do gallery walls. I’m a visual person so I lay it all out on the floor, in front of the wall, and then hang each frame individually.
Here’s the first layout I came up with.
It was a good layout but I decided I didn’t want all the big frames so close together. In case you’re wondering why the coffee table is upside down, it’s because it was “acting” as our TV in my gallery wall layout.
Here’s the next layout I came up with.
I liked this layout much better because I felt like it was more balanced. The big frames/windows were broken up so the top of the gallery wall wasn’t too heavy. Once I decided on a layout my husband started hanging the frames. It was a big task since the windows, the clock and the big frame were super heavy, but he did a great job.
Here’s what it looked like part way through the process of hanging the frames. With him standing on the ladder it gives you a pretty good idea of how big the wall really is!
After we figured out where all the frames were going to go on the wall, my daughter and I took them down and painted them white. I kind of liked the different color frames but I thought in the end I’d be happier with them all being white.
Are you ready for the reveal???
I am so happy with the way it turned out! I love stepping back, standing in the kitchen and just staring into the living room. This room is so peaceful and relaxing, it’s my new “happy place”. : )
Have you ever done a gallery wall in your house? I love gallery walls so I’d love it if you shared yours with me in the comments!

I adore this! I’m working on a gallery wall right now in my home and it’s proving to be quite the challenge to find pieces that work well together. I love the windows in yours. Thanks for sharing!

I absolutely love this! But, what did you do with the tv cords?? Am I completely missing them??
Anna says
We put them down the wall. There is a hole behind our TV which lets out at another hole next to the plugs behind the TV console. 🙂

I think your wall looks great. I am facing a project like this for my dad. I’m curious what kind of paint you used to paint your frames. If I can do that, it would save a lot of money. Thanks.
