I’m torn writing a Christmas post this year because, as you’ve seen, my house really isn’t in it’s best condition due to our ongoing construction projects. But I also love Christmas and still wanted to share a few of my decorations this year since it’s our first Christmas in this house.
Let’s start with my tree. I love my tree. One of my favorite things about this house are the tall ceilings in the living room, especially when it means I get to pick out a 9′ Christmas tree!
You may remember my Peacock Themed Tree from last year, and this year I did the same thing because I love the bright teals, purples, golds and silvers. Once I fall in love with decorations it’s hard for me to switch them out so I’ll probably have a peacock tree for a few more years. : )
It’s so pretty and “magical” at night.
You might also remember my Ballard Designs knock-off burlap Christmas trees. I am still loving them and they make a great addition to my new TV console (and current project).
This little guy is fun too, I scored him for only a few dollars at Ross.
This year we don’t have a mantle in our living room so I added garland on the ledge above our living room windows and doors.
We do have a mantle in our bedroom though so this year my light up Christmas canvas and our stockings are hanging in our bedroom. I want to add lots of fun things to both of these mantles but right now I have a lot of things put away so there’s less to dust after each big project. Next year the mantles will be fabulous!
This year we have new stockings because there are four of us instead of just three! What a Christmas this is going to be, first year in our new house and first year as a family of four! Next year I want to put a tree in our bedroom too but right now we have a bunch of boxes of wood flooring. (I just keep telling myself, “it will all be worth it in the end”).
I was also excited to find a great deal on an artificial tree for our dining room. I have tons of decorations from when I was younger so I decided to make this the sentimental tree. I wrapped it with this beautiful ribbon from Costco and then added all my childhood ornaments.
This one is from the year that I got in my first accident.
Since it’s an artificial tree I thought it would be fun to add something “live” so I went out and got some manzanita branches from the bushes on our hill. I love the way this tree turned out and I love having our sentimental ornaments out again.
My kitchen has a few Christmas decorations but not many because with the ongoing floor demolition I keep having to move everything out of the kitchen to prevent it from getting dusty. I do have a few things on the window ledge though, including my waterless snow globes.
That’s about all I have to show you this year. Next year I promise you a fabulous, beautiful Christmas home tour! But until then we’ll keep working on the house to make it look beautiful and this year we’ll enjoy the holidays in our crazy house. I thought you might enjoy a few “reality check” pictures I took by moving the camera over a few inches, or in some cases just zooming out. The few details I’ve shown you are pretty but this is what the rest of the construction zone looks like.

Not only is your peacock tree beautiful, but I love the color of your TV stand/media center. Great job!

Anna, you’ve done a great job to make your home beautiful and festive even in the midst of all the construction! After having lunch with you at Haven and hearing firsthand the story of your new house and your new family member, it just thrilled me to take this look at your Christmas decor. Merry Christmas and many blessings to all of you!!

Beautiful Anna, may I ask where you bought the child size nativity set…I have been looking for one for my boys room. I Love everything, thank you for sharing!!!

My mother in law bought it for Malea a couple years ago at a boutique shop here in town. It’s a really cute set but they’re ceramic so I’ve had to make some repairs with super glue. :/

My kitchen is all tore up and I don’t care! I put old rugs down on the floor to get us through Christmas. I love your decorations, they are so pretty.
God Bless and a Merry Christmas.

Thank you! What are you doing to your kitchen? Total makeover? I’d love to see picture.
