I recently had the privilege of painting my friend’s front door to spruce up the front of their house. It started out bland and white and when we were done it was a beautiful bright yellow front door that greets their guests with happiness!
For this project we followed this tutorial for how to paint a door like a pro and we used Sunflower yellow by Old Village Paint, from their Colours de Provence collection. It’s a beautiful color and it went on smoothly, without flaw. When you paint a front door using high quality paint will give you beautiful results every time!
You can see in this picture that the finish and color of the Old Village Paint is beautiful. Since painting her door I’ve had 3 other people ask me for this paint so they can paint their front doors too!
I think the finished product is beautiful and a HUGE improvement from what it was before! My friend was telling me the other day that now they want to paint the whole exterior of the house so it will look as good as the door.
Have you ever thought about sprucing up the front of your house by painting your front door? What colors have you thought about using?
Come back on Friday for an Old Village Paint giveaway!!!!

Hello! I’ve thought about painting my front door red! I’m not the greatest at putting colors together. Our house is light grey, black shutters, with white trim. What color would you recommend for our front door? I like yellows, reds, and greens, but am open to what will really be welcoming. Thanks!

Hi Lora! Would you mind emailing me a picture of your house? I’m a visual person so when I see a picture it will be easier for me to come up with a color. My email is askannamoseley (at) hotmail (dot) com.
Lora says
Yes, I will! Thank you!

I have a yellow brick house with a yellow & taupe front door. There’s a photo on the About page of my blog. What color could I paint it to make it pop and freshen up the entry? Aluminum door & window trim is dark brown (espresso like).

I looked at your picture but I can’t really see the front door. Can you send me a picture standing and looking at your front door?
Jenny says
So-I love this idea. And I want to do it! But I can’t find anywhere to buy this type of paint. Does Lowes or Home Depot carry it? Thanks for this fun idea, especially incorporating the red frame.

Is this a steel door you painted? Do you have to sand and prime a steel door before painting>
Anna says
No, it was a fiberglass door. You shouldn’t have to sand a steel door, just primer it.
Candy Walsh says
This is just the color I’ve been looking for!! Thank you so much!
Candy Walsh says
Also, how much paint did it take to paint the door?
Anna says
Less than a quart.

Hi Anna, I came across this old post while searching for yellow front door inspiration. Can I ask what colour the hardware is on the door? I plan on painting our door a very similar colour but I also want to replace the handle, door knocker and letter box, and I don’t want them to be black. Is it a light gold or a brushed nickel in those photos? Thanks!
Anna says
The hardware on this door is brushed nickel and it looks really great in person with the bright yellow. 🙂
Antoinette says
Wonderful thanks so much! Brushed nickel fittings ordered today!
