A few weeks ago I posted this on my Facebook page and had tons of you tell me you do the same thing! I also had lots of you give me other great ideas for how you keep track of your grocery list so you don’t have to re-write it all the time. Today I wanted to share a couple printable grocery lists with you, as well as some great apps for your phone.
With this printable list all you have to do is circle or highlight the items you need to get from the store, as you run out of them. There are also lots of extra spaces for things that aren’t listed. Click on the picture for a printable version.
If you’d rather write your own list click on this picture to print a grocery list template.
Or, if you’re like me, and you shop multiple grocery stores, here’s a free printable for 3 stores.
The other way my readers on Facebook, told me they keep track of their grocery lists, are with apps on their phones. Here are a couple good ones that they recommended. Click on the picture of the app to download it.

How do you organize your grocery list? I would love to hear your tips and the apps you use!

I use grocery gadget. It’s all I’ve ever used so I can’t compare it to anything. I can add to the list in one mode and shop in another- and Ican even customize my own aisles instead of having to use generic terms like “dairy.”

I use a similar grocery checklist which I post on the refrig & highlight what is needed as we run out.
On the backside I have a “weekly sales list” by stores in the area that I might visit if the sale is good enough. When the weekly ads come out I sit down and either handwrite or usually input on the form on the computer who has what, etc.
More recently, I have laminated the grocery list on the frig & highlighted what we need. Then when the ads come out I go to the computer & type by store in the template form I have created. Once updated I take a picture of the list on the computer (I don’t print it anymore), and take a picture of the list on the frig when I’m ready to go shopping. Then use my cellphone pics to shop from. Solved the problem of forgetting the list & having to call home for someone to “read it off & me rewrite it.”.

Hey I love this list I do something similar I have two lists one is my “where in the store” list the other is my price matching one. The price match is an excel file that says what it is, which store and what page number I can find the add. This makes it SO much easier when I’m at the cash and I can bust out a Food basics add and run through all the PMs so I don’t miss any deals. … that being said as my hubby found out the first time he tried to do the shopping on his own- Make sure you pack the buggy in the groups of the store 😉

I am also one of those people who rewrites a long list based on sections. Mom always did it that way and I continued the habit.

Glad to know others use the OCD method too. Winco is a big store! The truth is I have a master grocery list in Note for Droid and un-check the items before shopping and check them as go. Weird huh.

I decided to give the Grocery iq a try after reading this article. I am also trying Out of Milk. I like both of them, the only thing I think I like better is Out of Milk has a Pantry tab where I can keep up with what is in my pantry. Anyway, as someone who cannot shop without a list that is in the order of the aisles, I must say I am impressed with both. You can order the apps according to the aisles in your grocery store which is awesome. Then I was thinking, “I probably won’t use this, I am too used to having paper and pen in hand”, well I can just print the list out from either app!! Truly wonderful for me and I think it is going to come in really handy. Thanks for the post that got me thinking 🙂

I do what many of your other viewers do. Write my list in order of the aisles in the store. Have done this for YEARS and it works for me!

My favourite app is ShopShop. Reasons I like it:
1. it’s free
2. It’s easy to use.
3. you can create shopping lists for as many stores as you like.
4. you can choose a different colour for each list which makes it fun & easier to identify.
5. you can sort the list into any order you like e.g. alphabetical, aisle order or order of importance.
6. there is a master list which is intuitive, so once you have made a couple of lists, it will pre-fill the item as you type.
7. as you shop, you can put a line through the item and clear it from the list. This makes it easier to see which items you still need to get. The items will still remain on the master list for the next time you need them.
8. you can change the size of the font which is great if your eyesight is not as good as it once was!
9. you can choose to have a count display on the app icon which is a visual reminder that you have items on your shopping list.
