First of all I want to wish all of you awesome moms out there a Happy Mother’s Day! This drinks for you, cheers to being a mom!!
I have to admit that I didn’t do a lot of cooking this week because we had family in town, as well as I was getting ready to leave for our trip (we left yesterday, woo-hoo!). So this week I’m doing another martini recipe since you all loved my last one so much. 🙂
This recipe I actually received from a fellow blogging friend after I posted the Dark Chocolate Martini (if you still haven’t tried it you are missing out!). April from Wildflowers and Whimsy emailed me and told me that her favorite martini recipe is the Pomegranate Martini, so of course I emailed her back for the recipe! Fortunately and unfortunately she’s like me, in the sense that neither of us measure what we put into the shaker, we just seem to know what the right amounts are to make the perfect drink. So I experimented with it a little and here’s the recipe I came up with to share with all of you:
Pomegranate Martini
(makes 2 drinks)
Ingredients
2oz Vodka
1oz Cointreau (or any orange liqueur)
4oz Pomegranate juice (April recommends POM–not the cocktail kind, the regular juice)
Ice for mixing
Garnish
Sugar
Lime
Directions
1. Pour sugar onto a plate or shallow dish. Slice limes to use as a garnish on the glass (we squeezed the lime into our martini to add a little extra pop).
2. Fill your martini glasses with ice and water to chill them while you are mixing your martini. Combine ice, vodka, Cointreau and pomegranate juice in shaker. Shake well.
3. Empty ice water out of martini glasses, then rub the lime around the rim of the glass and dip it in the sugar.
4. Poor martini into glass and garnish with the lime.
Voila! Now you have a delicious, beautiful and refreshing martini to enjoy!
Can you tell I enjoyed mine? 🙂
Cheers!
