This year was a year of some major projects for us! It was also a year where we saw our house finally become the home I’d envisioned it to be ever since we moved in. I wasn’t going to do a project roundup this year but when I realized this was the year we did some of my favorite projects EVER, I had to do one! 🙂
We kicked the year off in January with a bookshelf makeover in my office. Even now, looking at the before picture, I can’t believe it used to look that bad!
Before
After
We moved into February and did a project I’d been wanting to do since the first day I saw the house! The previous owner had painted the ceiling green (yes, green!) so this year we made it right and painted it white.
March was a busy month, we started planning our backyard makeover, I did a mini makeover on our upstairs deck and we added some industrial shelves to our laundry room (as a part of it’s second makeover).
In April we finished 2 big projects, our second laundry room makeover and the installation of an EasyClosets organization system in Malea’s closet.
May was a month we started a couple big projects but I was able to finally complete my office makeover, that I had started all the way back in January!
In June we completed our huge deck renovation project but I also did a fun little DIY project for my office and made a chalkboard.
July was a really exciting month because we finally finished our outdoor kitchen and living room! These projects took a couple of months, but were well worth the wait! We used them so much this summer and can’t wait to use them the whole summer this year. 🙂
With school starting back up, August slowed down a little and the only project I did was painting the downstairs bathroom cabinets. It was quite the transformation though!
In September we kicked it back into gear and finished a few of my favorite projects! We finally got around to installing the subway tile back splash in our kitchen, I stripped and restained our breakfast nook table, and I gave the breakfast nook a much needed makeover.
October was a super busy month for us but I did manage to get a couple little projects in. I painted the front door while watching Malea run around the front yard with her neighbor friends and I did a mini makeover in the living room (that completely transformed the space) with all of your tips and ideas!
After a very busy year, full of projects, I promised Matt he could take a couple months off during the holidays. I did manage to talk him into installing the pendant lights, additional can lights, and having the pine ceilings installed in the kitchen, but I haven’t had a chance to post about those yet. 🙂 If you saw my Christmas tour though, you probably caught a sneak peek of them. 🙂
I need to stain the pine and we need to install the crown moulding, then I’ll be ready to share all about that project!
Wow, what a busy year we had last year, I’m a little overwhelmed just writing about it! I don’t have nearly that many projects planned for 2016, but I have already started a list of things I’d like to accomplish. Here are the few things I have swirling around my mind now, but I’m sure more will come up as the year goes on. 🙂
- Stain pine ceiling in the kitchen
- Install crown moulding in the kitchen
- Finish downstairs bathroom makeover – frame mirror and add accessories
- Replace windows in downstairs rec room
- Rip out and replace flooring in downstairs rec room
- Paint rec room and transform it from a rec room to a media/hangout room that’s inviting, not repulsive like it is now 😉
- Paint exterior of our house
Thank you so much for following along on our crazy journey to make our house our forever home. I would love to hear which project was your favorite, or if any of them inspired you to do something in your home last year. 🙂
Here’s to another year of projects!!!
