You know I love my label maker, I’ve used it to organize countless things in my house and write about them for my blog. I was recently putting away a platter and turned it over to see a label my grandma put on it, probably over 20 years ago.
Every time I see this it makes me smile and think of her, which is why I’ve left it there for the 10 years that I’ve had it. I remember walking into her office and seeing these embossed labels on tons of stuff, she was a very organized woman, especially in her office.
When I discovered that DYMO still sold these types of embossing labels with their Organizer Xpress Embosser, I had to have one. These labels are timeless and I love the idea of organizing with “vintage” labels, just like my grandma did.
I have this vintage-style dresser in our open entryway that I use for storing my candles and hostessing items but to be quite honest, it has become a dumping ground for all sorts of things over time.
Every time I opened one of the drawers to get something, it made me crazy to see how cluttered it had become so I decided it was finally time to organize it and clearly mark where things went, using my DYMO Organizer Xpress Embosser.
I started by emptying out all the drawers. I took everything out and organized them into piles, putting similar items together in groups. Then I vacuumed, and wiped, out all the drawers so they would be clean when I put my things back in.
This dresser is mostly used for my candles, and I have a lot of them, sometimes more than others, so I decided to break the candles up into separate drawers. I used my Organizer Xpress Embosser to label the drawers, so I would always know where to put things back. It is easy to use and with the 49-character wheel it had everything I needed to label my drawers.
The Organizer Xpress Embosser is easy and fun to use. I’m trying to teach my daughter how to be organized and I was thinking this would be a great way to start her out with labeling her items.
I used black to organize my dresser, because I didn’t want the labels to show when the drawers are closed, but DYMO introduced new, neon labels this year and they are super fun! Hot pink, glowing green and brilliant orange are the perfect fun colors to motivate my daughter to organize her things and because the labels are so easy to load it’s fun to switch them out and use a different color for each drawers in her closet.
At less than $10 (on Amazon.com) the DYMO Organizer Xpress is affordable and the perfect organizing tool to have on hand for almost every project! I think my grandma would be proud that I’m so organized and that I’m teaching my daughter the importance of organization. I love that organization is timeless and that something as simple as an embosser can bring back so many fond memories. 🙂
