Our downstairs bathroom leaves much to be desired. We’ve lived here almost 2 years and the only thing we’ve done is switch out the faucet because the other one sprayed you in the stomach every time you turned it on! Aside from the new faucet the bathroom still has pink walls, pink tile, pink sink, pink shower and a pink toilet (the previous owner must have been obsessed with pink)! In general I just try to avoid the bathroom because it gives me a headache looking at all that pink!
I honestly didn’t have a plan to makeover this bathroom any time soon but when our granite fabricator for the outdoor kitchen saw that we had a bathroom downstairs he offered to do a vanity out of the left over pieces for free! You can’t turn down free fabrication! Then I went to a “garage” sale at our contractors shop and found some beautiful 18″ tiles that he sold me for only $1.00 each, and with that the makeover dreaming began.
I’ve been trying to catch a vision for the bathroom but because it’s SO pink I’m having a hard time catching a vision, so I headed to my bathroom decorating board on Pinterest and found just what I needed.
Granted our bathroom looks nothing like this gorgeous master bathroom from the Lily Pad Cottage, but I loved the colors and thought they’d be the perfect place to start.
The granite we’ll be using in the bathroom has shades of gray and white so instead of going with a light gray, like in the inspiration picture, I’d like to do a gray/dusty blue color. The downstairs bathroom is the one all of our outdoor/pool party guests use so I want to give the bathroom a fresh, beachy feeling, without being too beachy (if that makes any sense).
Here’s the design board I created with all the color elements I’d like to incorporate into the bathroom (notice there’s no pink).
We’ll probably be starting on it in the next week or two so keep an eye out on Instagram for sneak peeks of the bathroom makeover! If you don’t follow me on Instagram yet, click HERE to join the fun! 🙂
