The holidays are here and company is coming, let the fun begin! I love this time of year as we get to gather friends and family around the table for lots of holiday meals and good conversations. Today I’m showing you how I’m getting our dining room ready for all our holiday entertaining.
I was so excited when I found this Better Homes and Gardens Crossmill Weathered Collection TV stand (that I turned into a buffet) at Walmart. The color is what made me fall in love, but the shelf space is perfect for storing all my entertaining pieces, from chargers, to table runners and more!
I’ve always wanted a dining room with a buffet, #1 because the extra storage is so handy when it comes to entertaining. In the past my serving pieces have been scattered, some in the kitchen, some in the pantry and some in the linen closet but now they are all in one place so it’s convenient and easy for me to quickly set the table.
For example I have a few sets of cloth napkins, and fun paper napkins, but I’ve always had to keep them in another room. I bought this cute chicken wire basket to go on one of the shelves and now I can store all my napkins IN my dining room!
Reason #2 I’ve always wanted a buffet, is because it’s a super handy place to put large serving dishes when you have a table full of people. Usually we awkwardly shuffle the serving platters around the table and then end up getting up from the table to put them in the kitchen. But now that we have a buffet, with LOTS of room on top (even with my decorations still there), we can place the large serving trays on it.
I’m also getting my dining room ready for our holiday guests by decorating my table with old-fashioned charm. The holidays are a great time of year to pull out all your fun serving pieces like the China you got for your wedding, grandma’s crystal and any other favorite pieces you might have. I always look for excuses to use my favorite serving pieces and adding these sentimental pieces to the table will make your guests feel extra special.
My dining room is ready for the holidays and I can’t wait to host my first dinner! I wish you lived a little closer because I’d love to have you over too!

I would like to make something like that buffet-entertainment center for my son and wife for Christmas.Do you have manufacturer name or measurements or any information on this piece that I can track down?Thank you so much h.
Bethany Davis says
Hi, Steve! I’m Anna’s assistant, Bethany. What a great gift to make for your son and his wife! The buffet is actually a TV stand that she uses as a buffet, and it’s made by Better Homes and Gardens. Anna purchased it from Walmart, and they include the measurements on their site. Hope this helps! http://www.walmart.com/ip/Better-Homes-and-Gardens-Lintel-Oak-Weathered-Collection-TV-Stand-for-TVs-up-to-65/34703231
