Today I’m going to share a quick Christmas decoration organization tip because when it comes to decorating for the holidays it’s always hard to remember where I put things after 11 months of having them put away. But this year when I pulled out my Christmas decorations I was pleasantly surprised to discover that I had done something very smart last year.
When I opened my decoration tub, the first thing I saw were little sticky notes that were pinned to my garlands.
Why had it taken me 32 years to think of this? And how had I forgotten that I’d done it! I don’t know the answers to either of those questions but I’m glad I thought of it because it saved me so much time!
Even though we are in a new house, and everything is different this year, having the labels was really helpful because I knew exactly how long each of the garlands were and where I could place them in my new house.
If you don’t have sticky notes and safety pins on hand you could also print tags with a label maker and attach them to the end of the light cord, or garland. When you decorate just tuck the tag under so it isn’t visible. When I took my garland out I removed the safety pins and left them in the tub so I can put them back on when I put everything away. It’s as easy as that! From now on you won’t have to worry about putting the wrong garland in the wrong place!
