I am beyond excited to show you my pantry makeover! When we moved into our house my favorite room was the pantry and right away I knew what I wanted to do with it.
In our last house my pantry (if you even want to call it that) was super small.
It was basically just a well organized cupboard that functioned as a pantry. So when we looked at our current house and I saw this pantry, I swear I heard angels singing. The narrow shelves on the far left, are the equivalent of what I had before.
When we moved in I knew this room was going to be one of the first ones to get a makeover so I just threw everything in there and ended up with this. It was fairly organized but every time I went in there it made me crazy because I knew it wasn’t living up to it’s potential.
Right away I started searching for inspiration pictures. Here are a few of my favorites. I have always been in love with this pantry from Thislewood Farm. I love the colors, the vertical dishes on the bottom, and I love the texture of the baskets.
I also love this pantry that I found on Pinterest. The stacked, and layered, dishes inspired me to think outside the box with the serving dishes that I have.
The first thing my new pantry needed was a new light. The 1980’s style globe wasn’t cutting it for the space so I ordered a beautiful chandelier from Overstock.com and my husband installed it for me. Some people have given me a hard time for having a chandelier in the pantry but right now this is the only space worthy of a chandelier in our home. 🙂
Next I had to find the perfect paint colors, Old Driftwood, for the walls and white (right off the shelf) from Lowes, for the shelves.
My husband painted all the shelves white for me and when he was done I painted the walls Old Driftwood and the ceiling Cool Gray (by Valspar). I was not at all sad to say goodbye to the off-white/yellow color that covered the walls, ceiling AND shelves!
Once the pantry was panted it was time to organize and beautify. I will share the organized, food part of the pantry later because I’m too excited about showing you the pretty part of the pantry that I can’t wait any longer.
Are you ready for the BIG reveal…?
This is my absolute favorite room in the house. While the rest of the house is in total construction chaos, the pantry is beautiful, organized and peaceful. Sometimes I just sit in my kitchen and stare at it (I know I’m so lame). I love the baskets, the layered dishes, my sister’s China that she so graciously let me house, the chandelier, all of it.
My favorite thing is that now I can actually see the beautiful platters and serving dishes I have, rather than having them stacked and hidden because there’s no room for them in the kitchen. I love getting to see Matt’s grandma’s silver platter, my sister’s China set, serving pieces we got for our wedding, and more.
What do you think of our new pantry? Come back next week to see how I organized all the food on the other side of the pantry!

So, inquiring minds want to know – what is in the baskets labeled No. 1 and No. 2???
😉
Anna says
Haha, actually there is nothing in No. 2 and there is a white platter, that didn’t fit on the shelf, in No. 1. So nothing interesting. 🙂 I haven’t really figured out what to do with that shelf yet.

Love it! I do the same thing when I complete a project: just sit and stare. We redid our pantry earlier this year and I just left the door open and sat in the kitchen for hours! This makeover is definitely worthy of a good long look!

Your pantry looks beautiful and organized. Like you, I also use to put labels on my kitchen items because this is the best method to stay organise for a long time. From your post, I also got some additional ideas and that I have listed down to my home organization list for future reference.

Oh Anna!! It is MAGNIFICENT!! My pantry is identical the one in your last house – teeny, tiny. I dream of having a beautiful pantry like yours at some point. Thank you for giving me another beautiful example to add to the dream file 🙂
Anna says
Ah, thank you so much! Some day you will have one. 🙂

Would you mind sharing where you got the baskets labeled No.1 and 2 from? Beautiful job!
Anna says
I bought them at TJ Maxx years ago. They are banana leaf baskets if you want to look for some online. 🙂
