A friend of mine told me this cake baking trick a few months ago and when she said it I had a major “duh! why didn’t I think of that!?” moment. You’ll say the same thing when you find out what the solution is for how to keep a cake from sticking to the pan. Are you ready for it? The big solution is…
Dun, dun, dun…
Yep, Parchment Paper!!!
Here’s what you do:
Step 1: Lay the Parchment paper out on the counter and place the cake pans on top of it.
Step 2: Use a pen to draw the outline of the pans on the paper.
Step 3: Cut the circles out with scissors and place one in each pan.
Step 4: Bake the cakes. Once you take them out of the oven allow them to cool for 10-15 minutes. Run a knife all the way around the cake, in between the pan and the side of the cake. Once the edges are free turn the pan upside down and let the cake fall out. The cake will come right out so make sure you are turning the pan over whatever you want the cake to land on.
Step 5: Once the cake is out, peel the Parchment Paper off the bottom of the cake. It peels off super easily.
Isn’t that the best tip!? I will never cook another cake without using Parchment Paper in the bottom of the pan! I have tried every trick in the book but this is definitely the best method for keeping a cake from sticking to a pan!
And were you wondering why these cakes are pink? I made them for my niece’s 1st birthday party, here are the finished products.
The teal cake is pink on the inside and the pink cake is teal on the inside, both have layers of white frosting between the cakes. They turned out super cute and she loved them. If you’d like to learn how to make a rose cake, check out i am baker’s video tutorial, HERE.

I rember mom used to just use wax paper and it is cheaper. Also when I was short on parch. Paper I would just put a scrap/ small pc in pan and it worked great. So just got me thinking what couldent you use brow paper bag or coffee filter.

My mother also always used wax paper, and so do I, with great results. I love parchment paper , too, but wax paper is cheaper for this purpose.

Ooh clever! I’ve never thought about this and now I think I’ll be doing it every time – so much less cleaning to do! Thanks Anna xx
