I can hardly believe the summer is almost over and we are having to think about those early school mornings again! Today I’m sharing a few tips for how to organize your mornings to help them run quickly and smoothly, without any kiddo (or mommy) meltdowns. My trick for having a organized school mornings is planning ahead. Here are three ways I’m planning ahead this year!
Pre-made Breakfasts
To help ease the rush, but still be able to have a hearty and nutritional breakfast, I pre-made a few things and put them in the freezer. The first thing I made were English muffin sandwiches. I toasted English muffins and then added a slice of cheese, turkey bacon, and an egg. The next thing I made were Hash Brown Stacks {I made up that name}. All I did to make them was purchase a package of pre-made hash browns from Trader Joe’s, added a slice of cheese, a couple slices of avocado and an egg on top. Let’s just say I made a lot of eggs that day!
Once they were all toasted, baked and assembled, I packed them up and threw them in the freezer for those busy school mornings!
I also like to make a few hearty breakfast breads and some healthy breakfast burritos, to give us some variety in the mornings. My husband also loves these because he is usually rushing off to work, really early, and doesn’t always have time to make breakfast.

Planning Outfits Ahead of Time
I don’t know if your daughters are like this, but my daughter is very picky about what she wears. I expected that from her when she’s older but I never thought she’d care that much at 4!!! To avoid lot’s of “I don’t want to wear that” arguments early in the morning, I got these Organizables that allow us to plan out all her outfits for the entire week!
Organizables are great for organizing school clothes because there are pockets in the front, which allows us to be able to plan out everything, including underwear, socks, barrettes, etc.! I can’t tell you how many arguments were avoided last year, over clothing choices! When she started to say, “I don’t want to wear that…” I would tell her, “sorry, this is what you picked out” and that was that.
Organize Hair Accessories
The next thing that’s always a hassle in the mornings is doing her hair. We have collected lots of hair accessories and now that the school year is here getting them organized and easily accessible is important for those busy school mornings.
To get all her hair accessories organized I grabbed a few things around the house and placed them in this basket on her bathroom counter, along with a spray bottle full of water, detangler and some hair spray.
I found this small glass for her larger barrettes, and then I used these glass spice jars, from IKEA, to organize her large hair ties and small barrettes.
Next I purchased a daily pill box to store all of her tiny, colorful rubber band hair ties. I found this one at Target and I love it because it has a lock on it so she can’t open it and dump them all out!
These are just a few of the ways I am preparing for those busy school mornings! I would also love to hear how you organize your home and kids when it’s time to go back to school.
