Today we are going to talk about choosing a time for your party. When you plan a fabulous party, deciding the time of the party is more important than you might think. The time of your party will determine a lot of things: what type of food you will serve, what type of drinks you will have available, etc. It will also determine the “mood” of your party and the decorations you will need.
How can the time of a party determine all of that, you ask. Well, let me give you a list of things to consider:
* What time of day is the party?
* Depending on the time of day should we serve snacks, hors d’oeuvres, a meal?
* Will it be daylight or dark? Will we need to provide lighting?
* Will it be hot? Will you need to provide shade?
* Will it be cold? Will you need to provide heaters?
* What type of ambiance do you want to set?
* Do you need to work around children’s nap times?
These are just a few of the questions I ask myself, and your answers to them will determine what time of day you should have your party. It’s important to take all of these things into consideration, but also remember your budget. How much money do you have in your budget for food? If you don’t have a lot then you probably shouldn’t plan of serving a whole meal, maybe just pick up some snacks & finger foods for the party.
Ambiance is another important thing to consider.
I would say 9 times out of 10 the type of ambiance I’m wanting to set, is the determining factor in what time I will throw a party. I love lots of candles and twinkle lights so most of my parties are thrown in the evening when the sun is going down. However when I plan my daughter’s birthday parties I plan the parties for earlier in the day because I have to work around nap times.
What time do you normally throw your parties? Have you ever thought about how important the time of a party is?

Was wanting to study all 31 days of your party planning series but for some reason I can only view the intro, choosing a theme, choosing a time for the party and then day6 can’t recall which that was but would like to read it all if possible. Thank you. I’ve enjoyed so far. Planning a birthday for my sister, niece and daughter who’s bdays are the same day. 😉

I’m so sorry I’m just getting back to you about this! I have been so crazy this summer and I’m way behind on returning comments. Unfortunately I never went back and finished the series because I wasn’t getting a good response to it. 🙁 I really should finish it though because I think planning a party can be done well, and easily, with my tips. Feel free to email me if you have any questions/need any help planning the rest of her party! 🙂
