Do I need to even say anything else? The picture and the title pretty much say it all. 🙂
A few weeks ago we celebrated my best friends 30th birthday with a huge Publisher’s Clearing House themed party. Since I’ve never really liked cake, until I started making them this year, I knew I had to make something fabulous for my chocoholic best friend {no store bought cake!}.
I found these Toffee Crunch Cupcakes on Pinterest and have been wanting an excuse to make them, but just haven’t had one yet. So when it came time to make my BF’s cake I had a genius idea! Why not turn the cupcakes into a whole cake!
Since I’m in love with this chocolate cake and chocolate ganache recipe from Art of the Dessert I decided to mix and match recipes in order to get the cake I wanted. I started by making the cake, ganache and the caramel frosting.
Then I assembled the cake.
Cake
Caramel Frosting
Crumbled Heath Bar
Next I added the second layer of cake on top and covered the entire cake with chocolate ganache. Then I sprinkled crumbled Heath Bar over the top of the cake and added some decorative touches with the caramel frosting.
Let’s just say that the cake was amazing. There wasn’t a single piece leftover from the party. I will definitely be making it again!
