I can’t believe it’s already been 4 weeks since I started using the ARM & HAMMER Advance White Brilliant Sparkle. Not only are my teeth sparkly clean but I have found so many great uses for using the toothpaste around the house! After writing my post on how to clean your cook top with the Advance White Brilliant Sparkle toothpaste, I received some great tips from my readers for other uses for the product. Here are some of the ideas that my readers had for how to use the toothpaste: drying out pimples (hmmm… I’ll have to give that one a try), cleaning jewelry, filling in nail holes on the walls and polishing silver. All of these are great suggestions but there’s one that I have actually used before so I thought I’d elaborate on that one today.I’m still young and haven’t inherited very much silver yet but I do have a few great silver pieces. When my first silver piece started tarnishing I had no idea how to clean it so I turned to toothpaste and a toothbrush. I was so happy with the results that now I polish all of my silver with toothpaste. It’s a very easy process, here’s how it works:
Step 1:
Wipe off the silver piece making sure that it’s clean of dust, food, etc.
Step 2:
Spread a small amount of toothpaste on the silver piece and work it around with the toothpaste. Work the toothpaste into the detail of the silver with the toothbrush; it’s easiest if you work in one small area at a time.

Step 3:
After you have cleaned the entire surface of the silver piece with the toothpaste, rinse with water. I like to continue to scrub gently with the toothbrush as I’m rinsing (just like I do with my teeth).

Let it shine! It’s amazing what a little toothpaste and a toothbrush can do to a beautiful piece of silver! Here’s what it looked like after only cleaning 1/2 of it. The difference is amazing!

Looks brand new again!
Here’s a great before and after: it’s the candle holder I just polished sitting next to an unpolished one from the same set. It’s pretty amazing what 1 minute plus a toothbrush and some toothpaste can do.

This is great! I've spent years polishing silver & this is so much easier. One warning, be careful to follow the instruction above to "gently" rub. Silver is very soft and I have put a few bumps in my pieces due to too much pressure.

I have tried it and I really like how it makes my teeth and mouth feel so clean. I haven't used it for anything else but I will.

That's a great tip, I actually just went out to buy silver polish the other day for the first time and was at a loss for how to clean the few pieces I have. I have to say that using the toothpaste/toothbrush method looks easier though so I'll definitely try it! Thanks for the tutorial!!

I've never used baking soda to clean silver. I actually prefer to use natural products to clean, since my dh has allergies and cannot tolerate harsh chemicals in most cleansers.runningmatey at hotmail dot com
