Easy Crockpot Chili

A cold winter night calls for delicious, warm chili and cornbread. This chili recipe is easy and can be thrown in the crockpot so it's ready when you get home after a long day.
Ingredients
  • 1 red onion, chopped
  • 1 red bell pepper, chopped
  • ¼ cup chili powder
  • 1 TBSP cumin
  • 1 tsp cayenne pepper
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 4 garlic cloves, minced
  • 2 lbs ground turkey (or beef)
  • 1½ cans tomato sauce
  • 1- 14.5oz can diced tomatoes with chilies
  • 2-15oz cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
  • For garnish - sour cream, cilantro, cheese
Instructions
  1. Place ground turkey (or beef) in the crockpot. Add chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper.
  2. Add vegetables to the crockpot then pour in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and kidney beans.
  3. Use a fork to gently mix all the ingredients together, breaking up the ground turkey.
  4. Cook on low for 6 hours. Garnish with sour cream, cilantro and cheese (optional).
