Button Cake & a Vintage Bridal Shower

Button cake and a vintage bridal shower - Ask Anna

A friend of mine is getting married in a few weeks and I was asked to make the cake for her bridal shower.  I’m not usually nervous when I make my cakes but I was nervous about making her cake because she is so beautiful and totally a perfectionist.  I wanted her cake to be perfect!  I was given a picture of what they wanted the cake to look like but I am learning that cake making is a form of art and each cake takes on it’s own character.

When I finished this cake I didn’t like it because it didn’t look anything like the picture, nothing like it.  I was frustrated with it when I went to bed that night but when I woke up the next morning I was able to forget about the picture of what it was “supposed” to look like and appreciate it for what it was.

I ended up liking how it turned out.  I think it’s very feminine and unique, just like my friend.

Here are a few pictures from the shower.  The girls throwing the shower did a fantastic job!  All of the decorations were handmade and gorgeous!

The girls made these adorable table runners with fabric and buttons.  I totally want to make one now!

Even the drink station was adorable!

The spread was beautiful, and there’s my cake, right in the middle. 🙂

Here is the bride-to-be {in the middle} and a few of her friends.  Isn’t she gorgeous!?

    Hello there!
I love the DIY “pinwheels” posted on the wall for this shower! I want to do something similar to that. How do you make them?
    Thanks so much!

I honestly don’t know, I didn’t make them, sorry. I’m sure you can find lots of tutorials on Pinterest though. 🙂
