A cold winter night calls for delicious, warm chili and cornbread. This chili recipe is easy and can be thrown in the crockpot so it's ready when you get home after a long day.
- 1 red onion, chopped
- 1 red bell pepper, chopped
- ¼ cup chili powder
- 1 TBSP cumin
- 1 tsp cayenne pepper
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 2 lbs ground turkey (or beef)
- 1½ cans tomato sauce
- 1- 14.5oz can diced tomatoes with chilies
- 2-15oz cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained
- For garnish - sour cream, cilantro, cheese
- Place ground turkey (or beef) in the crockpot. Add chili powder, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt and pepper.
- Add vegetables to the crockpot then pour in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes and kidney beans.
- Use a fork to gently mix all the ingredients together, breaking up the ground turkey.
- Cook on low for 6 hours. Garnish with sour cream, cilantro and cheese (optional).
