The week between Christmas and New Years usually provides a much needed break from the hectic pace of life. Meetings are slim to none, emails slow down, and texts and calls are few. It’s a great week to catch up and get organized!
If you’re like most, your home and/or work office is disastrous from the end of the year crunch. But since the office area plays a critical role in keeping our lives organized, it’s the perfect place to focus our efforts right now.
Granted, you may be so overwhelmed that you don’t even know where to start. I understand…completely! But, I’m going to let you in on a little secret…
Just start.
It doesn’t really matter where you start, you just need a jumping off point. If you need guidance, here’s an assignment for you to complete:
- Look around your desk and pick up the closest piece of paper. Take action and then file or trash it.
- Grab the next piece of paper and do the same.
- Keep going until…well, until your office is spotless or you’re ready to quit for the day (whichever comes first!).
The important thing is to get started. Organize ONE thing. Once you start to see progress, you won’t be able to stop!
Take advantage of the biggest “no distraction” week of the year! Your clean workspace will set you up for success in the coming year and you’ll be ready to tackle the next big project…like Spring Cleaning your home!
Yes, I have an easy solution for Spring Cleaning too…just do one thing. Every day. Yes, I’m big on doing “one thing.” Sometimes it’s all we can do! And for those of you who like that guidance, sign up to get a Spring Cleaning assignement every single day of 2012. Together we’ll tackle our homes and finally get clean and organized!
