DIY Coffee Table {Pinterest Inspired}

This is what my husband came home to last Friday night.  My poor hubby, I’m always working on something.
I had been on Pinterest and found this beautiful coffee table that I thought would look great in my living room.  Don’t you think so?
I think it’s an absolute beauty!  Then I though, “well it would probably cost me a small fortune to buy it so I’ll just make one!”  Seemed simple enough.  But since I don’t really know how to build coffee tables I headed over to Ana White’s blog and found a basic coffee table plan.  Then I headed out to Lowe’s {I feel like I live there sometimes} and bought everything I would need to build this table.  To save my husband from having to do it I had the guy at Lowe’s make all the cuts for me, let’s just say he was less than happy about that.  Luckily I had Malea with me and since she’s so cute he at least tried to be nice about it. :)
After we put Malea to bed we got to work on it.  My husband was not to excited about this new project but he was a very good sport and I think he enjoyed working with his hands a little.
The next day I painted and stained for hours.  I did 2 coats of primer and then 2 coats of high-gloss white paint on the base.  I wanted the base to be bright white and shine like a star {since I knew it would be the new star of the room}.
For the top I did 2 coats of dark walnut stain and then 1 coat of high-gloss enamel.
Isn’t it pur-dy? :)
Here is what it looks like now.  I can’t even tell you how much I love it.  Every time I look at it I’m excited all over again, I absolutely love my DIY coffee table, especially because we made it!
Here’s what the base looks like from underneath.   We only made a few adjustments to the Ana White plans but the frame is pretty much the same.  We didn’t follow her plans for the top, I just made it up to look the way I wanted it to look.
What do you think?  Do you love it as much as I do?!?  Have you built anything that you’ve found on Pinterest?  In honor of my new {Pinterest Inspired} coffee table I’m going to do a link party, starting today, for this weekend.  Link up your Pinterest inspired projects!  Who knows, one of my readers might just Pin your project!!!

    Hello Anna , as a fellow pinner I must say I’m absolutely head over heels for this coffee table , I have been searching for the right coffee table for almost two whole years now between the prices and the styles I wasn’t having any luck , until I found your pin ! it made me so happy .The coffee table in itself is so simple and elegant I love it !, I wanted to ask what the measurements are ? if I may this table is on my “to- do” list for this year most definitely.

    • Thank you Mieya! I absolutely love the table and I think you’ll love it too! It was easy to make and it’s a beautiful piece in our living room. The measurements are 42″ long, 27 1/2″ wide, 16″ tall. Send me a picture if you end up making one! :)

    This table is gorgeous! I am wanting to make a coffee table for myself using the same directions from Ana White’s blog but i love the look of your table with wider slabs of wood on top. what size did you use for the table top? and where did you get the table legs from?

    • I bought everything for the table at Lowes. Home Depot has nice table legs too though. For the top I bought 5 pieces of 4″ wide pine. They are really pretty but do dent kind of easily. :)

    I love your table. What color stain did you use?

      Hey Jennifer, sorry it has taken so long to get back to you. Anna used the stain Minwax and the color of the stain was Walnut. Hope this is helpful!

  4. Love this table. Its nice to make it custom to fit your home and style. How did you attach the top boards to one another to make a slab?
